Reinstallation of Operating System

I am trying to install Windows XP on a hard drive but when I try to boot from the CD it tells me that there is no bootable media present. How can I get the computer going to be able to install the Windows XP if it tells me my installation disk is not bootable?

Is it an original XP disc or is one of those reformat discs?

Also are you forcing the computer to run from the disc? If not, go to the boot menu and tell the computer to run the app.

You don't have boot from it in order to install an operating system. Just pop in the CD and it will automatically run itself. A question will pop up asking if you want to install this program and then ask you a few times are you sure .....

The hard drive was wiped clean so there is nothing on it currently.

You can crreate a setup boot disk on floppy or cd from another computer. Search google for windows setup boot disk.
