I also find that TV shows are able to develop characters and a deeper plot more so than most movies. As of right now I'd have to take TV shows, but what do you guys think?

Which do you like better: TV Shows or Movies?
I was thinking about this today, what do you think is a better format for storytelling, entertainment etc? I used to be all about watching movies, but lately I've been picking up some TV shows and blowing through them in a few weeks. It works better for my schedule to be able to sit down for a half hour or 45 minutes and watch a show as opposed to 2 hours for a movie.
I also find that TV shows are able to develop characters and a deeper plot more so than most movies. As of right now I'd have to take TV shows, but what do you guys think?49TV Shows0%29Movies0%16Don't Know/Niether0%4Go Yankees

Re: Which do you like better: TV Shows or Movies?
I definitely prefer tv shows. My wife and I watch episodes from box sets every single night in bed. Wether it be Seinfeld, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Lost, King Of Queens, etc. -
Re: Which do you like better: TV Shows or Movies?
I'm saying movies, because they are a written story with a conclusion. If a TV show gets extended for too long, ideas start running out. And this dude's choices /\/\/\ are the perfect examples of carbon-copy bullish that make me hate TV in the first place. 'cept Seinfeld.Comment

Re: Which do you like better: TV Shows or Movies?
I've always enjoyed watching films for their audio/visual experience... I'm talking about the loud explosions, massive orchestra soundtracks and widescreen panoramas... but TV shows now have some high production values nowadays that it's fun as heck watching 24 or LOST on a large HDTV with surround sound. The suspense of having to wait until the next episode every week is always fun too, which is something movies can't really do in terms of storytelling.
I'm gonna go with TV shows.Comment

"Don't Know/Neither" is my answer.
They're different forms of entertainment to me. I enjoy them equally for what they are.Comment

Re: Which do you like better: TV Shows or Movies?
I guess it really depends on the story for me. Some TV shows are great, but do little to really progress an overall story or any of their characters, while other shows do a superb job of developing characters and an over-arcing story. I think its hard to compete with a TV series because a film has 2-3 hours to do what I a TV show can do in 20 episodes. On the other hand, I think a film does a better job at creating an atmosphere and an "epic" feeling that is hard to string along for a season/series on the TV.

Re: Which do you like better: TV Shows or Movies?
TV by far. The Wire and Band of Brothers are 70 hours of film that are better than any movie.
Throw in The Shield and Gilmore Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, and 70s Show for some comedy and I'm straight.
After The Wire, most movie plot development is quite literally laughable to me.Comment

Re: Which do you like better: TV Shows or Movies?
Before this decade, movies were far superior. Now, in my opinion, these are the only logical reasons for liking movies more than TV shows:
- You don't have the time commitment to devote yourself to entire seasons of a particular show and movies fit into your schedule better.
- You think the best TV shows are on network television.

There are only a few real negatives I would have about TV shows. Sometimes they can get stale, "jump the shark" or go on too long. Also ending something that has been developing for years can be hard to do, for example the Sopranos finale. I would also add Lost to this because I feel no matter how they end it, people are going to be ticked off.Go Yankees
