Re: Just got a MP3 player.
If it's an iPod, us iTunes. If not, use Amazon. Amazon has been cheaper lately anyway, so use Amazon either way.Comment

Re: Just got a MP3 player.
Rip CDs. Depending on what type of music you like, a lot of smaller market labels have free mp3s of their artists to grab. Like Extreme suggested, Amazon is good too and you don't have to fool around with DRM.

Re: Just got a MP3 player.
RIP the CD's you already own, and use iTunes to buy more music if you want it.
I should add as a note - iTunes doesn't use DRM anymore, they dropped it.Comment

Re: Just got a MP3 player.
Take note, this is false too.
You can use iTunes to convert the songs to several different formats - ACC, AIF, Apple Lossless, MP3 and WAV.
You'll have absolutely no problem putting the songs on ANY music device.
Best thing would be to try it for yourself and see how you like it - a lot of people will give you false information that could mislead you (as we've already got two false statements in this very thread).Comment

Where exactly is this option in iTunes with store bought media?Take note, this is false too.

To clarify, I have Audioslave albums (bought from iTunes store) but under their tracks its listed as 'Protected AAC audio file'. I can not burn that album to an MP3 format on a CD; "is an iTunes Store File and can not be burned to an MP3 CD." They will not go over to my Zune program.Last edited by av7; 05-08-2009, 12:10 AM.Aaron

Candyman,
I had to delete the site. That site illegally creates MP3s.Comment

Select the format you want to use in the preferences, then right click on the songs you want and click "convert to [x]", voila.Where exactly is this option in iTunes with store bought media?

If you bought songs before they removed DRM all you have to do is burn the songs to a CD as "Music" - not MP3, then Rip them back to iTunes as whatever format you want, and the copy protection is gone.
Songs bought now, though, won't have DRM anymore. But just do that for your old songs that do and you're set; then keep the CD as backup somewhere.Last edited by MC Fatigue; 05-08-2009, 12:52 PM.Comment
