From what I hear, this album looks like it's much better than his last one, but not on par with his first two, which is fine with me. I just need four to six good tracks and I have enough to expand my anemic rap playlist on iTunes.

I hope those Asher Roth fans already got his album, because they are about to forget about him. He shoulda came stronger before Em dropped his album.

Album is definitely better than the last one. Not on par with my two favorites (Marshall Mathers/Eminem Show) but it's definitely better than the recent ones.

Good review and props for calling out those that would try and keep hip hop in a box. Still haven't heard the album, and nothing from what I've heard so far has convinced me to get it. Like a lot of people, I am just not feeling the accent he's going with on those singles.

Nice and hilarious review. I'm not picking up this album because I cant stand that damn accent he uses. Why does he use this? Why doesnt Dre say WTF are you doing? If he would use his voice he used in the past it would make his songs so much better but they are just annoying to listen to now.

I really agree with your assessment on most of the songs except I like the beat on "Bagpipes from Baghdad", and its enough for me to like the song. I also think "Underground" is the sickest song on the album by farrrr (Can't wait to work out to that). I wish he used that razor sharp flow on all of his songs rather than the "accent". Here's hoping that Relapse 2 is the album I hoped for (Dedication to Proof, Jay/Royce/TI collabo's, more songs like "Underground" and "Beautiful", etc.). After a few spins I like the album more than I did initially, but it's very underwhelming and WELL below my expectations.

I'm also not really into "the accent". What the hell Em? Why so inconsistent?

"Beautiful" and "Underground" are definitely my favorites. "Must Be the Ganja," "3am," and "Insane" are probably the three best..."comic Em" songs to me.

I wasn't expecting another SSLP or MMLP, but I figured with 5 years worth of writing and guest spots from literally anyone he wanted, he could put out something pretty hot.

My biggest irritation (aside from the accent) is the one the topic creator touched on a lot.

Em is friends with and the boss of the best ****ing hook writer in rap (if not music) history. Are he really too proud to say "50, write me some hooks. Mine suck." Hooks wouldn't have made it a classic, but they could definitely turn some of his decent verses into far more listenable album.

Totally!!! You've got the best producer. . . .you're the best rapper. . . he's the best hook writer. . .It makes sense. . .why only use 2 of the 3 when you can have all 3. . .the guy is on your payroll.

Thanks man. "Telepathy" was a track i recorded in the basement on a 4 track in 1999. . .the 'Snips' was created out of my verses from songs I did when I was with this group, but I'm solo now. . .& people didn't like always listening to 2 other dudes before getting to mine. . .so i put those snippets together. . .even though the only song that may make the album is the 1st. . .& I will have to record two new verses on it. . .
