Re: The Hangover
It was the same basic premise. Some guys get into/found out they were involved in ridiculous (and unfunny in my opinion) situations while trying to figure out what they did and find something they think is missingSpoileronly to find it was right where they startedOriginally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? Common knowledge, but I can't understand how you didn't think this film wasn't funny, but to each his own-I'm at a loss to understand anyone liking Lost In Translation, but many on this board do.Comment

Re: The Hangover
Well, my "this movie isn't funny at all" comment was an exaggeration. As I said earlier, I found a lot of Galifianakis's lines funny, but this movie was, in my opinion, nowhere near as funny as it was made out to be. It's not even close to being one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. A tiger in the bathroom? Naked guy in the trunk? Same singer from Old School, Wedding Crashers, whatever other movies that have helped kill the joke for me. I just didn't find any of it funny or clever. The hype surrounding it definitely didn't help either, I guess I just expected too much from the "funniest movie of 2009".Comment

I personally just saw Hangover cause the trailers looked hilarious, and enjoyed the movie because I didn't have the hype going into it. 99% of movies and games won't live up to the hype because you expect too much at that point.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: The Hangover
I just saw this last nite and it was somewhat funny but nothing side splitting. Don't know if it has that much rewatch value as the premise and charm of it is mainly situated in what happened to Doug. There wasn't any parts where I couldn't stop laughing like I have with other great comedies so I guessed it failed my test that way. I think it had a good premise but just didn't deliver that well on the laughs.
Most of the movies I've seen this year that were hyped have disappointed me except for Star Trek. I'm not usually one to hype myself from good word of mouth and leaving myself disappointed as I was hyped to watch Star Trek and I really liked it. But with the Hangover, District 9 and Inglorious Basterds I thought these movies were slightly above average at best and mildly disappointing as a result that had nothing to do with my heightened expectations.
I don't think I'm becoming jaded. I think it's been a bad year for movies so people overestimate the value of movies that are simply average and the recession also made people go to the theater more and give overinflated box office #'s for films that normally wouldn't gross that much if the economy was better. That's my take anyways. Hopefully this is not the case for Avatar for me.Comment

I'd REALLY have to be forced to see a sequel if it was the way I described it.Comment

Re: The Hangover
I liked it but I think because it was so hyped I didn't like it as much as other great comedies.
I still consider Old School and Wedding Crashers to be much funnier.
I even liked Anchorman and Dodge Ball more than this.
But still, it's a pretty funny movie.Comment

Re: The Hangover
As for the HangOver, it was somewhere between Old School and Wedding Crashers based on my first viewing so it may have the same replay value for me down the road.Comment

Re: The Hangover
That happens for any movie. My friends hyped the hell out of Napoleon Dynamite and Boondock Saints, and when I saw both I was all "WTF? These aren't that good at all"...not horrible movies, but just ones I don't quite get (and the hype killed it for me).

Re: The Hangover
I just saw this last night, a co-worker let me borrow it. I thought it was pretty funny, not the funniest movie I've ever seen but I was entertained for the most part. And just when it was starting to wear out its welcome it ended so that's always a good aspect for any comedy. I think its definitely better than Old School and Wedding Crashers because it did feel a bit more clever. And it also had a perfect Heather Graham role, where she has few lines and can just concentrate on looking busty. Plus, any film that leads off with a Danzig song gets bonus points with me.Comment

Re: The Hangover
Got this on Netflix and watched it last night after seeing it in the theater last year. Pretty much the same reaction I initially had after seeing it when it first released - it's a pretty funny and entertaining movie but nowhere near some of the top comedies of 2000-2009 such as Wedding Crashers. I feel like there are a lot of jokes that are 7/10's but no 10/10's, there was nothing that completely made me burst out laughing. Chuckles throughout though, solid movie but nothing amazing IMO."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
