    Re: Swag On

Can't stand the dude myself but I can't even hate on the dude because this is 2(technically 3 songs)that he has put out and no matter how dumb they sound, people are still showing this dude some love. Hell, i've found myself a couple of times singing this song and Crank That every now and then and that means the song has done it's purpose.

A song with a nice beat and a catchy hook goes a long way. That sums up Soulja Boy's career.

My boy Soulja Boy Tellem makes hits.

might not be lyrically deep but they are hits...still dont get why people hate on this young black man doing his thing

I debuted this song in So Cal the day it came out he posted it on his youtube page.

I can safely say i was the first person to ask the dj to get it..in fact he had to get it from youtube since ISouljaboytellem wasnt even out yet!

had the lil asian girls in the club gettin they swag on thats for sure!

Soulja makes good dance music..thats all its about...nothing more...nothing less.

and the video is pretty funny...and it "tries" to tell a story...but his music aint deep, in the lyrical sense anyone looking for that needs to look elsewhere.

on his youtube page he has a few videos called "Rich ninja Sh**"...that is some funny stuff.

i think dude just turned 18 not that long ago.

hes not doing anything to stop the perpetuation o the stereotype..and maybe as he gets older he will understand that..but..look at his environment..look who he is around... cant expect someone who grew up around that to just "Wake up"

anyway tho not going to get into all that in thsi thread it was about his music

                Youuuuuuuuuu!

(and for the record i dont go around bumping S beezy, but i can appreciate what hes trying to do...and on occasion ill "turn my swag on")

His music does perp the stereotype though

It's not just him doing it so I won't crucify him it's just that he's the worst offender of them all. I aint "one of you guys" so I'm not that vested into that, sorry for going there.. anyway there's my dollar's worth

BTW song is still horrendous even compared to his other less terrible tracks

                    I agree as well juk.

Swag is also the most overrated, overhyped word ever made.

I don't mind him making the money, But his music is terrible. If I decide to make a minstrel show, having black folk Fooling around with Watermelon and Fried Chicken. and it is successful does that make me a successful black man or a sell out trying to make money??

My whole issue is balance on the radio more then anything else. When "tootsie roll" came on then they would play 2pac, when" Thats just my baby daddy" came on then they would play Biggie. Now they just play 6 songs in a row with some dummy from down south who cant speak english (Plies) and play it over and over.

Well I care to an extent, but it's not a big deal. That's kind of a pointless question IMO.

Also to compare SB to tootsie roll isn't even close. I don't think I have to explain that.

In my view this cat is perverting music. Simple as that. Do I have a problem with it? Kind of but it doesn't matter what I think. That doesn't mean people like me shouldn't comment on it.
