    Custom computer builders

This is my mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121100

    I currently have 2GB of this ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145589

and I am thinking about buying 2GB of this ram for $30 from a friend - http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...al_channel-eol

Will everything be compatible? The voltage and timing are different on the two different types of RAM. Will that matter?

Hard to say, but you should be fine. Some mobos throw a fit with mixed ram, some don't. If you put them both in and it won't boot, take one set out and try again.

Definitely do some testing on the ram once you have it setup. Run memtest or torture test with prime95 for 3 or 4 hours at least to see if it holds up, then tweak timings/volts and repeat til you are satisfied.

Personally I'd start with the slower timing and higher volts to see if it's stable. Then I'd up the timing and test for stability again and not worry that much about volts. Ram is cheap enough that if overvolting the one stick kills it, replacing it won't be a huge deal.

I recommend against mixing memory. But the newer stuff may play together better than in the past.
