    RCA Flatscreen

I was wondering if any of you have had any dealings with flatscreen TV's made by RCA?
My wife has decided to buy me a flatscreen for Fathers Day but she wants me to pick it out and she wants me to stay around $700.00 to $800.00. I really want a 42" and I really want it to be 1080.
With that being said I noticed Wal-Mart has a 42" RCA 1080 for $698.00 on sale now. They also will throw in 7 surround sound speakers and a DVD player for $100 more if you buy the RCA.
I have heard both really bad things about RCA flatscreens and some good.
    Any thoughts or experiences??
Link below for the one I looked at.

Sorry I can't help you on the RCA. I was in the same boat with the wife though. Wanted me to stay at $1000 for a 42" 1080 sony(bottom of the line for sony). I got a great deal and spent $1999 on a higher quality 46", surround sound, and a blueray player. She got over it when she saw football in hd.
When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”

Going to move this to the E&T forums. You might get more answers there anyhow

Vizio is probably the best budget brand

Agreed. I would definitely go with a Vizio over a RCA. I always suggest going to the store and seeing both in action first.

Although, I'd strongly consider a 42" Panasonic plasma over either the Vizio or RCA LCDs.

The 42" Panasonic plasma is a little over what my wife wants to pay for a Fathers Day present!!! lol
I did go to Wal-Mart and looked at the RCA in "action" and the picture looked really good.
Me and the old lady are going to go to Sams this weekend and check out the Vizio.

I hate to sound like and idiot...
But would the Panasonic Plasma 720 be a better TV then the RCA 1080??
I am so tired of trying to decide which HDTV to get!

Technically YES because you are getting more PIXELS 1080>720. As for reliability Panasonic is better.

I agree. I have a 42" 720 Panasonic and a 56" Hitachi that's set to 1080. I honestly can't tell the difference in Pixels quality. Good luck and Happy Fathers Day Jake!

Get the Vizio. Remember, when the set is in your house, you'll have nothing else to compare it to. So if it looks good to your eyes, buy it, be happy, and don't worry about any other sets.

Yeah, picking an HDTV is hard. You have the one you want all picked out then at the last minute something changes your mind and makes you hesitant to pull the trigger.

Tell me about it, one thing I keep reading on other sites is dont worry about the 1080 if you dont have a blue ray player which I dont.
I will only be using this TV to watch regular non HD tv and to play my 360 on.
The more I look at the Panasonic 720 plasma online the better I like it. They have one at Best Buy on sale for $699.

There was a Phillips 42" inch 1080p for $779 at Target that I was going to get. When I got to the store though they were sold out, I got a Magnavox (pretty much the same tv, same specs, same price) instead. I've been pretty pleased with it. They still have them on the website.

I'm a big Philips fan. I have a 47" Philips LCD and a 32" Phillips LCD. I then have 2 19" Vizio LCD's. No more tubes in my house.
