Don't be swayed by the constrast ratio. Dislimb bought them hook, line, and sinker. Constrast ratios are what the manufacturer says they are. There is no standard in measuring them. The 6000:1 could actually be better than the 50000:1. You need to actually look at the tv can forget about the contrast ratios. Its all marketing to make you think its better.

Re: RCA Flatscreen
One of my co workers bought the TV below from Sam's Club and loves it.
What do you guys think? It has a 50,000 to 1 contrast ratio.

Re: RCA Flatscreen
I want to pay cash for it and see it before I buy it!
I have come to the decision that I am just going to go out Saturday and look @ Best Buy, HH Gregg and Walmart and pick the TV I like the most.
How big of a deal is it really for me to have 1080 or 720?
I may end up getting a larger 720 then the 42" 1080.
What do you guys think?
Also how nice is the picture using a HD antenna?
I have read people online say that they dont have HD but love the picture of the local channels using their HD antenna.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Also, there really is no such thing as a HD antenna. The ones on your old analog tv would work. I wouldn't spend more than $25-35 on a powered antenna. A digital signal is all or nothing...so you'll either get a great "crystal clear" picture or nothing at all (will say weak signal). I got rid of cable 4 years ago and get HD channels using a antenna. Go here http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/Address.aspx and put in your address. That'll give you an idea of what HD channels you'll get in your area.
Good luck in your search.Comment

Re: RCA Flatscreen
Congrats. Be sure to get your HDMI cables at monprice.com and don't pay too much for an antenna. Let us know how you like it once you're up and running.
