Don't be swayed by the constrast ratio. Dislimb bought them hook, line, and sinker. Constrast ratios are what the manufacturer says they are. There is no standard in measuring them. The 6000:1 could actually be better than the 50000:1. You need to actually look at the tv can forget about the contrast ratios. Its all marketing to make you think its better.

A friend of mine just bought that same set at Sam's. He knew I liked Philips a lot, and we went and looked at it. I personally loved the set, it has very little plastic around the screen, which makes it feel like it's just one big picture. Looked really nice and sleak, good price.

That is actually a really good deal, especially considering that TV runs at 120hz. Other than the Samsung I posted, this would clearly be the best choice for you posted thus far.

The only thing I dont like about this one is you have to order it online.
I want to pay cash for it and see it before I buy it!

I have come to the decision that I am just going to go out Saturday and look @ Best Buy, HH Gregg and Walmart and pick the TV I like the most.

How big of a deal is it really for me to have 1080 or 720?
            I may end up getting a larger 720 then the 42" 1080.
            What do you guys think?
Also how nice is the picture using a HD antenna?
I have read people online say that they dont have HD but love the picture of the local channels using their HD antenna.

Absolutely! I'm with you on this (especially the part in bold) 100%. We can all give you advice until the cows come home, but only YOU truly know what YOU will be happy with. Let us know how the hunt goes and hopefully you find a good deal on a new addition to your "family." That's what I call it, anyway, since I have no kids.

IMO, 1080p vs. 720p isn't that big of an issue if you're talking less than 50 inches. It's more of a future proofing thing at the moment, b/c no broadcasts are done in 1080p. Only blu ray (and HD-DVD) movies are using it. Don't know of any 360 or PS3 games that are completely 1080p. Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

Also, there really is no such thing as a HD antenna. The ones on your old analog tv would work. I wouldn't spend more than $25-35 on a powered antenna. A digital signal is all or nothing...so you'll either get a great "crystal clear" picture or nothing at all (will say weak signal). I got rid of cable 4 years ago and get HD channels using a antenna. Go here http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/Address.aspx and put in your address. That'll give you an idea of what HD channels you'll get in your area.

                      Good luck in your search.
