    Favorite Song Lyrics

What are your favorite lines from songs?

Personally, my all-time favorite is probably this, from "K.O.S. (Determination)" by Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli):

"At exactly which point do you start to realize/
that life without knowledge is death in disguise?"

    What do you guys got?
    IT'S GREAT TO BE
    A MIAMI HURRICANE
"At exactly which point do we start to realize
That a life without knowledge is death in disguise?"

"You cringe as my truths crawl near.
Catching fire, my words burn your ears.
Melting every dream inside your head,
breaking you down to a nobody."

      i cannot narrow it down...

these arnt the most meaningful lyrics, just off the top of my head

Go on, give up, you'll never win
No crying now, they're watching him
His blood will boil, the kids will sing.
Learn to drown before you learn to swim.
      -Boy; Bayside

The abortion that you had that left you clinically dead,
and made it all that much easier to lie
But it's nothing that I'm proud of (No, it's nothing that I'm proud of)
I'm making an example out of you (This is phase one)
This is a preview (This is phase one)
      -Spin, Taking Back Sunday

It's time to flow like the fluid in ya veins
If ya will it, I will spill it
And ya out just as quick as ya came
      Not a silent one
      But a defiant one
      Never a normal one
      'Cause I'm the bastard son
With the visions of the move
      Vocals not to soothe
But to ignite and put in flight
      My sense of militance
Groovin', playin' the game called survival
The status, the elite, the enemy, the rival
The silent sheep slippin', riffin', trippin'
Give ya a glimpse of the reality I'm grippin'
Steppin' into the jam and I'm slammin' like Shaquille
      Mad boy grips the microphone
      Wit' a fistful of steel
Yeah...and mad boy grips the microphone
      Wit' a fistful of steel
      -Fistful Of Steel; RATM

      Branded like an animal
I can still feel them burning
      In my mind
      I do believe,
That you made your message clear
Never been enough to really know
      That I feel
      Leaving me with images
      I know are not real
      Are those
      Words of condemnation
      That I hear

      -Perfect Insanity, Disturbed

My favorite lyrics are from Domino by Kiss but I probably shouldn't put them up here. So I will go with:

        Nothing ventured, nothing gained,
Feel no sorrow feel no pain.
Kiss me while I'm am still alive,
Kill me while I kiss the sky.
Let me die on my own terms,
let me live and let me learn.
Now I follow my own way
and I'll live on to another damn day.
        Freedom carries sacrifice,
Remember when this world is my life.

3 Doors Down. Life of my Own.
When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”

Pretty much anything from Rise Against.

Can you hear the desperate cries
that are calling out your name?
Twisting your arms, holding out their hands
          and tugging at your sleeve
Do you feel this underlying sense of urgency
or are you as blind as me?

I hit the ground and I'm still running but I need a place to stay tonight,
I swear I'll be gone in the morning I just need somewhere now

I can't bear the thought of losing,
I dread the attention winning brings
and ever since the day I came here
I can stand without your strings
I'm so sick of all these people
but I'm scared to be alone
and if this life has taught me anything
          I forgot it long ago
When I die, will they remember not
What I did, but what I haven't done?
It's not the end that I fear with each breath
It's life that scares me to death.
Somewhere between happy, and total ****ing wreck
Feet sometimes on solid ground, sometimes at the edge
To spend your waking moments, simply killing time
Is to give up on your hopes and dreams, to give up on your...

Life for you, (who we are) has been less than kind
So take a number, (who we are) stand in line
We've all been sorry, (who we are) we've all been hurt
But how we survive, (who we are) is what makes us who we are

An obvious disinterest, a barely managed smile
A deep nod in agreement, a status quo exile
I shirk my obligations, I miss all your deadlines
I excel at quitting early, and ****ing up my life
          I can still remember
The words and what they meant
As we etched them with our fingers
          In years of wet cement
The days blurred into each other
          Though everything seemed clear
We cruised along at half speed
          But then we shifted gears
          Identities assume us
As nine and five add up
          Synchronizing watches
To the seconds that we lost
I looked up and saw you
I know that you saw me
We froze but for a moment
          In empathy

I brought down the sky for you but all you did was shrug
You gave my emptiness a name
          But you ran away
Now all my friends are gone
Maybe we've outgrown all the things that we once loved
          Runaway
But what are we running from?
A show of hands from those in this audience of one
          Where have they gone?
          Blind to this impending fate
We let the world carry our weight
It's back breaks with every mile
But we all live in denial

Not sure why, but I've always liked this one.

A little piece of paper with a picture drawn floats
On down the street till the wind is gone
The memory now is like the picture was then
When the paper’s crumpled up it can’t be perfect again

I could come up with a bunch of others too, but that's the one that came to mind first. The Rise Against one's Acid posted are great too, Survive in particular.

I have so many but here are 3 I really like:

"Me, I be a Killa Bee, keeping exilery
Ol' play the desert e, shoot ten millime'
Master the millipede, you try to end the sea
Your body being found in the neighbor yard artillery"

                  "Pencil" by RZA

"I'm just a hooligan who's used to using hallucinogens
Causing illusions again, brain contusions again
Cutting and bruising the skin, raise the scissors and pins
Jesus when does it end, phases that I go through
Dazed and I'm so confused, days that I don't know who
Gave these molecules to, me what am I gon' do"

                  "3 AM" by Eminem

                  "We do what we please
                  Don't trip cuz we flip
                  Light up a dip
I'm breakin' 'em off from they hip to yo lip
                  Go ask that boy Skip
                  That ***** Bun rip
With one clip, soon as the gun slip
Now I done whipped out my Barrelli
Flyin' through yo Pelle Pelle and some smelly red jelly is drippin' out of ya belly
Served 'em up like a deli

                    Flying through my digestive tract
is my decision, my choice to act,
act upon the urge to trick my brain.

                    maintain a grasp on reality.

                      Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Acid posted one of mine, so I'll go with a different section of the same song:

Rise Against - Rumors of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

When we built these dreams on sand,
How they all slipped through our hands.
And this might be our only chance.
Let's take this one day at a time...
                      Eminem - Stan

I can relate to what you're saying in your songs
so when I have a ****ty day, I drift away and put 'em on
cause I don't really got **** else so that **** helps when I'm depressed
Less Than Jake - The Science of Selling Yourself Short

                      I've come to my senses,
                      That I've become senseless,
I could give you lessons on how to ruin your friendships,
Every last conviction, I smoked them all away,
I drank my frustrations down the drain, out of the way,
So I sit and wait and wonder,
"Does anyone else feel like me?"
Someone so tired of their routines and disappearing self-esteems
3 Doors Down - It's the Only One You've Got

                      If you're afraid to fight
Then I guess you never will
                      You hide behind your walls
                      Of 'maybe, nevers'
                      Forgetting that there's something more
                      Than just knowing better
Your mistakes do not define you now
They tell you who you're not
You've got to live this life you're given
Like it's the only one you've got
All pretty depressing...but for some reason its the depressing lyrics that always stick with me. There are countless others, but that's enough for now, haha.

                        I, once upon a time
                        Carried a burden inside
                        I sung a last goodbye
                        A broken rhyme I'd underlined
There's an ocean of sorrow in you

                        A sorrow in me

Saw a movement in their eyes
Said I no longer knew the way
                        Given up the ghost
A passive mind submit to fear
And the wait for redemption at hand

                        Waiting to fail

                        Failing again

If death should take me now
Count my mistakes and let me through

But where there's demand, someone will supply
So I feed them their needs at the same time cry
Yes it pains me to see them needness
All of them lost souls and I'm their Jesus
Deepest regret and sympathy to the street
I see no pity for they fix when they kids couldn't eat
And with this in mind, I still didn't quit
                            And that's how I know, that I aint ****
My heart bleed but that's aside from the fact,
I live from my kids and theirs and them youngins after that
Part of Malice's best verse ever.
