i mac or windows based pc

Ok i know this has been discussed before.. but can someone who has an i mac give me some of the pros and cons of having one.. i have always had windows based pcs, but am leaning have towards getting an i mac.. I just am not sure i wanna spend the extra $1000

I'm not a pc gamer.. ps3 and 360 for that, so gaming isn't an issue

well, easy answer from me. Mac all the way. I am sure you can get yourself into a Mac for 1000-1500. Maybe a Macbook instead of the IMAC.

The pros for me are basically a Mac lets me use a computer the way it was meant to be used. Ive had my Mac for 8 months now and its always the same. Turn it on and use it like 45 seconds later. When im done I turn it off and move on.

All of the windows PC's Ive had would have broken down at least once by now. Go to turn it on, it takes 10 minutes, then go to turn it off and I would get errors and things not shutting down properly. Then there are problems when I use it. When I am on my Mac, I can run flash, photoshop, dreamweaver, all at the same time and do what I need to do. On my PC it never really worked like that.

On the flip side, if your not going to demand that much from your computer, and your going to base your purchase on price, then PC may be the way you need to go.

      Check out the Mac Mini.

It's not as popular as the iMac or the MacBook series, but you can get some decent computing power in a TINY computer for less than an iMac and WAY less than a MacBook.

      It's 6.5" x 6.5" x 2". You just need to supply a keyboard, moniter, and mouse.

You can get a 2.0 GHz Core Duo processer, 2GB RAM, and a 320 GB Hard Drive for $800.

A similar iMac (though with a 2.66 GHz processer) is 1200 bucks.

I've been rocking a MacBook for about three years now, and I love it. But if I was to get another computer, I'd get a Mac Mini and scrummage for a keyboard and monitor (already have a very nice mouse).

i was in a similar situation and went the pc route. got a dell pc, it has intel core i7 processer 6gb ddr3 ram and 23 inch HD monitor for $1158. the processor on the imacs is only dual core and that was my main reason.

Well I just got back from Best Buy with my i mac.... hurt the wallet for sure, but after all the terrible computers I have owned, I figured I'd bite the bullet and give apple a go... so here I am, I feel like a virgin having sex for the first time, knowing what to do... just a little apprehensive

Best thing to do is just play around with the OS.

Here are a few websites that have some good tips and advice.

I think the big question is - what are you gonna use your computer for?
If you simply need it to browse the Net and do the occasional office chore, why in God's name would you spend $1,000 to $1,500 on any computer?

You can get what you need for $500, though the computer will admittedly not be as sexy looking as an iMac.

Yeah...this is key, mac vs. pc aside. Most people don't need a 1000+ computer IMO, if they just surf the web and do e-mail.
