Horrible Bosses, decent movie. The 3rd guy, unknown guy (at least to me), just wasn't that funny. Actually he was somewhat annoying.

I agree with this. Charlie Day is funny in Always sunny but i didn't find him that funny in this.

Overall this movie had a few funny moments but I think it wasn't as good as what I had heard or expected. I think if I had gone into it without being told things like "OMG this is the funniest movie of all time" etc but some friends I would have liked it more but it didn't really live up to the hype for me. Still a funny movie and I'd watch it agian but just not as hilarious as i thought it would be. Still an 8/10 from me so I still really enjoyed it....

I thought I'd finally give my DVR recording a viewing, despite the negative responses earlier up the page.

I'm glad I watched it. It wasn't that bad at all. You're faced with a trifecta of story lines which find themselves interweaving by the conclusion of the film. In fact, only about 30% of the film is even in the states (you get a lot of French dialogue in the film like Inglourious Basterds). What's left to feel about the unfolding of everything once it all ends leaves a lot to be desired, but it's one of those films which can lead to intellectual opinionated discussions on IMDb (which I'm about to explore right after I post).

Matt Damon is an interesting kind of actor. Every time you see him on screen, you definitely see Matt Damon... but it's always a different form of him. Whether he's the servile Will Hunting, the quirky Linus Caldwell, or the coldly calculated Jason Bourne, he is never perceived as the same character on screen, without having to change but a few pounds of meat here or there. Damon's character in this film is rather self-preserving, and he is not exactly in a narrative state in this film, so we're always on the outside looking in, no matter the character. Eastwood handled characters in this film much better than, say, Gran Torino. The supporting cast didn't really act their part as well as they could have, but it wasn't a huge detriment to the film.

If there was one major turn-off in this film, it was anything on a visual level outside of the lighting techniques implemented. The CGI was around the worst I have seen in the past five or so years (for a film with such high accreditation). Not that there was much to worry about, but when a film is meant to be taken this seriously, it was pretty embarrassing. Thankfully, I was able to look past that.

Anyway, if you're looking for a highly climactic film, you might have to keep searching. If you want a piercing drama that shows no bias for any characters or themes, this one isn't that bad. I think the reputation of this film will rise as time passes.

Let me premise this by saying that I have not seen Meet the Fockers. I apparently ran into the last five minutes of it on TV unknowingly, but I don't remember a thing about those five minutes.

Anyway, the first ten minutes were stale, and the last twenty minutes were silly/over the top. Everything else was actually pretty decent, vintage Meet the Parents style comedy. Stiller and De Niro's characters go at it with the conspicuousness and without the subtlety. Unfortunately, there are only so many ways to make jokes using the last name "Focker."

Again, I haven't seen Meet the Fockers, but Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand's characters just bring this movie down. In fact, even Owen Wilson's zenful character brings this movie down. Jessica Alba was a stunner in this film, and went above and beyond what I had expected her to do. In fact, no actor really seemed to mail it in like you'd expect them to, although there wasn't really that much to deliver on many fronts.

I still don't think this should have been a movie franchise with sequels, though. The first one is pristine; original. The sequels can't really steer away from the original and be good without copying it, so they play the safe route by sticking close and adding new elements each time (simply, just more characters). All in all, this was much better than expected, but it left me with a sour taste in my mouth... with the exception of the ending before/during the credits. That was laugh out loud hilarious.

Was flipping through Amazon's list of movies and came across Soylent Green.

Now, I've seen the SNL skit and I wasn't aware it was based on a movie. I decided to give it a go and it wasn't bad. I've never seen a Charlton Heston movie before. I only know his as that crazy gun guy.

What a perfect wacky premise. It's one of those movies that would be better if you didn't know what it was about going into it. Unfortunately, that's the kicker for the film. I think it could have served itself better if it worked more like Jawbreaker, where it was simply about trying to conceal their murderous guilt from everyone else. Instead, it turned into "stalker killer" horror status.

This didn't necessarily make it a bad thing, though. The kills were slightly creative, and the acting along side of it was stronger than it was weak. They sold what they could, and the cinematography was actually rather stupendous (the opening shot lasts an entire three minutes, uncut). The script, however, is the weak point of this film. Not only that, but the last half hour falls downhill rather quickly, making the movie just seem... bad.

This is not a contender of a good horror film by any means. It simply crafts together enough intricacies to gather some sort of fascination in the film, then transcendingly falls flat on its face. It just leaves you shrugging your shoulders, and finding something else to do, forgetting about it completely almost instantly afterward.

50/50 - A damn good movie. I thought it did a really great job of balancing the comedy and drama. It wasn't overly comedic, but it was enough to keep the drama from being completely overhanded and depressing. JGL was great, but it was nice to see Seth Rogen actually handled well on-screen for a change rather than just seeing him ramble for 2 hours. My heart now belongs to Anna Kendrick, though Opie's daughter was looking mighty fine.

Well, he's hardly that as well. Soylent Green was very unique for it's time. That and the Andromeda Strain I believe were 2 hallmark sci-fi classics at the time.

I thought this was a horror movie. It is not.
It's about 10 minutes of horror movie. 20 minutes of sermon. Hour long gun fight. Giant WTF.
I think the first 80 minutes was setting up a joke for the last 10 thus is actually a comedy. It's a pretty funny joke I guess because I was laughing through the ending. Discussion of the actual content of the movie isn't allowed here so I can't say much more than that. John Goodman was great and Kerry Bishé

I haven't watched a movie in quite some time but I did watch one real early this morning.

Knockout (1941)

This was a programmer from Warner Brothers that had two things going for it that kept me engrossed.

1. It had Anthony Quinn in a big part and I can watch that man act in just about anything.

2. It's a boxing movie which i'm a sucker for.


Basically it's about this young boxer Johnny Rocket (Arthur Kennedy) who plans to get out of the fight game after his next fight but unbeknowst to him his contract with his current manager is sold to another manager by the name of Trego (Quinn) and Trego promises he can get Rocket to the big time. Rocket does his last fight and says he's out of the game for good and goes off to marry his sweetie and gets a job as a gym instructor.

Trego still wants Rocket's services as he thinks the kid has what it takes to be the next champ. So he fixes it so that Rocket gets fired and can't get a job anywhere else in the city thus forcing Rocket to go back to boxing. His wife isn't so keen on the idea but goes along because she knows it'll make him happy.

So we get the cliche rise to the top but with some wrinkles. Rocket is a cocky bastard of a guy who can get away with that behavior because he can knock other fighters out and then there's the whole thing with a female sports reporter whom he starts getting close with and actually dates which forces his wife to leave him though she still carries a torch for him

Anyways the whole thing comes to a head when Rocket informs Trego that he's going in business for himself and becoming his own manager so that he can get all the dough for himself. This, of course happens as Trego is settings things up for a championship bout. So Trego decides to fix the upcoming bout without Rocket knowing by doping his mouthguard which leads to Rocket's downfall......


The acting in this is quite believable and very good all things considered. Anthony Quinn just lights up the screen when he's on and Arthur Kennedy does a wonderful job of showing how ambition and confidence can destroy someone. In his scenes with his wife he keeps that cocksure/overconfident swagger to him but you can see how she fell for him in the first place.

The only thing that mars the picture to me is the ending which is kind of puzzling in a way but at least it led to the "happily ever after" ending. This isn't a bad waste of 73 minutes by any stretch.

Jason X - Terrible. Felt like a softcore porn movie at first. I knew it was going to be bad with it being in the future and hearing other people talk about it, but it didn't have that classic Jason theme to it. It was more of a bad action movie then a horror film.

At least I can say I've seen all the Jason movies now.
