    Contagion

Not that it was boring but like...nothing happend, didn't want to turn it off but wouldn't have been horribly upset if the power went out. It could've been a TV movie or 2 episodes of something. 2 or 3 good jokes in there, one wasn't a joke but I couldn't help but laugh. You get all this talent and don't really do anything with it? Also couldn't help but be thinking "CDC? Aren't these the clowns that screwed the pooch in the Walking Dead?" for much of the movie.

    Shark Night

B movie that didn't go far enough. It was ok overall. One really awesome kill.

My Daughter wanted to see The Darkest Hour so I took her over Xmass vacation. Horrible movie. We both felt it was a huge waste of time. I actually dozed off at one point.

        The Goonies ....

... I've seen it a million times, but it was just on tv.

Crazy, Stupid, Love. Thought it was good. Nothing special but I laughed quite a bit as I'm a big Steve Carrell fan.

Super 8. Absolutely great, imo. This definite ranks as my #2 all-time

X-Men: First Class. Good movie. Definitely my favorite out of the series.

Horrible Bosses. Hilarious! I laughed the entire movie, especially when

Friends with Benefits: I thought it was decent. Started off strong and then it dragged. I like Justin Timberlake as an actor and Mila Kunis makes a movie easy to watch.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Sorry Beantown but this is a movie you've heard of before

Thor: This was a helluva movie considering I never really liked the comics at all. It was a pretty fun flick that was actually funny at times especially early on when Thor found himself on Earth for the first time and kept getting knocked out LOL!

I gotta say the acting was top notch all around and while the story wasn't exactly something to write home about the actors al pulled it up a bit with their quality of work. I thought Hemsworth and Portman had a chemistry on screen together that was genuine and didn't feel forced at all which is often the case when trying to graft a bit of a love/romantic interest into a story that probably doesn't need it. Anthony Hopkins was FANTASTIC as Odin as it took me a long time to figure out it was him under that makeup. He did a great job of masking himself and falling into the role. The guy that played Loki was perfect for the part, charming but definitely scheming and mischievous.

I had forgotten/didn't know that Kenneth Branagh directed this and I must say he did a pretty darn good job considering he's not exactly an action film director. It did lend credibility to the Asgard scenes even though they (rightly) toned down the flowery language still, it did give those scenes an added heft that you wouldn't get from your standard issue action film director. There is actually quite a bit of attention to detail and plot in this that puts it up in the Iron Man category of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Regarding Hemsworth as Thor, I thought he did a very good job though the scene when he goes charging to retrieve Mjolnir reminded me a TON of HHH. Was there ever serious talk of casting him as Thor or was that all just silly talk from wrestling fanboys?

All in all this was a fantastic 3 1/2 stars out of 4 movie to me.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Seen Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night. I heard good things about it for awhile but just now got around to checking it out. Turns out it was a very good movie. I loved it.

Visually the movie was great. The CGI design of the apes seemed a little off to me when you first see one of them, but once the movie got going and they start moving they look so lifelike that it made me not notice it. The emotion of the apes shown was great as well.

The movie was pretty straightforward which I liked. There wasn't really any "fat" on it or parts that dragged, I thought. I actually felt the movie ended too soon to be honest.

As for the characters, they were all pretty good. The humans though were much weaker than the apes (obvious I guess since the movie is about the apes), and I was pretty disappointed with James Franco's performance. He had a great connection with Caesar (who was so awesome. I want my own Caesar ) but it seemed like his emotion was really lacking when certain events happened. He did a serviceable enough job to where he wasn't a glaring weakness, but I felt he could have done a much better job.

I loved the way they set things up for future movies with some of the hints about space, as well as the scene after the credits. I don't know exactly where they plan to take things and I haven't seen the older movies either (aside from the terrible Wahlberg remake). All I know is I can't wait to see a sequel.

                I'd give the movie a 3.5/5.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

In the last few days I have watched the first Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes, Super 8, and Source Code. I liked them all a lot, but then again nowadays I only watch movies that I have a very strong vibe that I'll really enjoy.

                      7.5 for Sherlock Holmes
                      8.0 for Super 8
                      8.5 for Source Code

Time loops, creating/visiting alternative quantum realities will always add an extra level of enjoyment of a film for me, so Source Code definitely got a bump because of that.

Killer Elite- Definitely not what i expected. The trailer and commercial made it seem as if Clive Own's character had captured Roberto De Niro's character and Clive and Jason were super spies going head to head; DEFINITELY not the movie.

It was very down to earth and gritty in a way and the fact that it is based off of a true story is even more satisfying. The action was good and the characters were pretty entertaining for the most part. The trailer was definitely not keen to what the movie was and the movie was so great 8.7

Real Steel-Wow, a sleepy hit of 2011. I remember when i first saw the trailer and mocked it and laughed. I now have to eat my words. The movie was awesome. Very predictable but still heart warming and on the edge of your seat action. 8.8
