    Hope Springs
Good movie with a way too predictable and cheesy ending. I thought Tommy Lee Jones was great as the husband who is very cranky and set in his ways. Steve Carrel's character brought a lot to the story as he asked some tough questions that made the couple really analyze not only their relationship, but their life as well.

The previews for this suggest a good deal of comedy, but what is funny is really subdued in the delivery. This plays as more of a drama with comedic elements. Worth a rental.

The big news is that you got to the end of this movie. I watched the first 10-15 minutes and just had to shut it off. Terrible.

Fellowship of the Ring - It took me way too long to see this movie. Brilliant. Definitely worth (figuratively) locking myself in my room for 3 hours.

As far as I can tell I don't need to watch the other two parts of the trilogy to see The Hobbit, but please tell me if I do.

I also watched Contagion. Didn't care much for it.
His delivery was PG like. I likened him to a Bugs Bunny copper type of character, but he was very threatening to me as his presence was always felt.

Lincoln is high on my list to see but I also want to see Hyde Park on the Hudson so a little sad to see it's not as good or historically accurate. How deep into the role was Murray? Was he so immersed in it that you almost forget it's him as FDR?

Oh yeah. It was wild that this was the same guy from Caddyshack. Murray so was awesome as FDR, that you forget its him playing one of the most important people in American history.

                  The Vow

Kind of forced into watching it, but also kind of glad that I did. The semi-psychological aspect of it reminded me of The Notebook in multiple ways, and not just because Rachel McAdams was in both of them. It was paced well and made the "right" choices, even though I think it's based on a true story of sorts. This film is neither straight "romance" or "drama," and allows for a few laughs along the way. I've grown on Tatum since 21 Jump Street, so he was actually a plus in the film alongside McAdams (and Sam Neill, actually).

No, not required. Glad you like FOTR

My son and I watched Prometheus yesterday...absolutely gorgeous film but not a good movie, to us. Creates some problems with Alien.

To feel better, we followed up with 21 Jump Street and had a good time with that. Really funny, and a nice surprise. Thanks for the recommends here for Jump Street, guys.

Wife and I watched Love and Other Drugs last night. She had seen it before, but I hadn't. I actually really enjoyed it. Definitely some funny moments, and Jake Gyllenhaal was great in it! I definitely need to see some more of his work that isn't named Bubble Boy. Haha.

Flight - It went a different direction than I was expecting. A good movie carried by the outstanding acting of Denzel Washington; however, it's not a movie I have any interest in purchasing or watching again.

So very much agree. Very good but very frustrating movie.

                            Les Misérables

Not my kind of film, but damn was it good. Superb acting throughout, and hey, great singing voices from our actors as well! I can't claim "must see" because this will cater to those who can bear it being a musical or what have you (plus it's long), but it will have the Academy sniffing up its proverbial tree.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

This is 40: I appreciate Appatow's reality films but man this guy needs to trim his films down. Littered with DVD extras. Alot of "just throw that in there" scenes. Im sure older veiwers related more to this than me but it was a decent reality-comedy. I was disappointed they didnt show a bit of Seth Rogan and Katherine Heigel's characters from Knocked Up just as a mini update. I want to say Megan Fox was funny in this but no. She wasnt.

Resident Evil Retribution: I have no ****ing clue what was going on at any point in this movie. Seriously, just end the franchise and reboot it in 4 years. It makes no sense. And oh God with another terrible cliffhanger. We get it already, Umbrella NEVER LOSES.

Ted: This is literally a hour 40 minute episode of family guy. Seth McFarlane, hire a voice actor. All I kept thinking about was Peter Griffin the whole time. The joke they made about it didnt help things. The story was meh. you can tell Seth took this opportunity to make all the R jokes he cant do in Family Guy. All this was missing was about a dozen snap cuts and a talking baby. IDK what it is but this film made Mila Kunis way less attractive to me.

Looper: Nice concept, fresh take on time travel films. I just didnt like how it ended and its lack of a melt my mind twist at the end. The little bits of time travel rules like Bruce Willis losing and gaining memories was very intriguing. But seriously with the nose piece on JGL? I couldnt stop staring at it the whole time. It wasnt necessary. Took me more out of the film than it immersed me in it.
