Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I see no shame in simply using a feature on this website that is built around covering up spoilers. Those who have seen the film (such as myself, thankfully) are a single click away from reading what he would want to say. Otherwise, there are plenty of other ways to leave impressions in a film, such as the way he made his edit.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I thought this thread was intended to replace a million individual movie threads?

Would you rather somebody bump a movie thread for a flick they just saw for the first time (The Social Network for example) or just post it here?
Individual movie threads are for more that just impressions of the movie. News, trailers, leaked images etc.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I leave spoiler-free impressions in this thread for the films I see. I hardly even put up anything in spoiler tags, because I try to refrain from discussions that will just be spoiler tag after spoiler tag. As Mo said, those should be reserved for the movie threads themselves. These discussions, I would think, should be not only about films we're seeing for the first time, but we're posting about them so that other people might say: "Shoot, thanks for enticing me to see this film!" I don't think many people will want to see a film if they've been spoiled, especially if they don't know whether they're about to walk into a spoiler or not.
If there truly is a six month threshold, that means we're going to have to start making a calendar calculator to determine this. Isn't it just easier to just use a feature on this site? I'm not angry because I was spoiled something... heck, I'm not even angry. I'm just confused that I tried to save people from possibly being spoiled of something, and I'm the one receiving lashes. We don't see spoiler impressions in this thread often, and when we do there are often spoiler tags.
Anyway, I'm moving on. I'll stick to the spoiler-free style which I leave my impressions on here, and I think most people would prefer it that way. If I run into a post which does spoil a film for me that I haven't had seen without tags, six months after Blu-ray release or not, I will certainly be angry. I think most people would agree.
Oh, and I saw Tower Heist. It sucks, it's just noise.
Honestly, I don't get angry if I run across spoilers on the internet. It is an inherent risk especially today where information is so easily published across different sites and platforms. I try to be spoiler free outside of the tags even within the movie threads personally, but reading or finding a spoiler doesn't typically affect my interest in seeing a movie or TV show.
I think the 99% of the posts in this thread have been pretty good regarding not including spoilers; however, to spoiler tag a 15-20 year movie, especially a high-profile one, seems kind of silly to me.
Admittedly, I saw the film for the first time a couple of years ago. There are some films I just didn't come across when they came out when I was... nine years old, I guess? Tough to make sure I can jump through my entire backlog when I was in school my entire career leading up to seeing it.
I just think the way MachineGunLotto edited his post is much better anyway. I don't see not only why anyone would disagree, but why those who have seen it (like myself) can't put two-and-two together with what he's referring to in a non-spoiler context. Or look at it the other way: he's already seen it and the ending still surprised him much later. If one is forgetful in that sense, wouldn't you enjoy seeing the film again if you don't quite recall details like that? Fifteen years is almost too long to not put a spoiler tag, if that makes sense.
This is actually kind of funny, because it didn't occur to me until after I saw the episode again that Family Guy spoils this film. I had seen that episode many times prior to seeing the film and not understanding what the hell was going on. Then I saw the film, and never even realized that's what Peter was talking about until I saw the episode again. I burst out loud laughing at how true that was.Last edited by Blzer; 03-26-2013, 05:25 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I try not to post spoilers but well, about 70% of what I watch is so old/hard to find that it's no use bothering with the spoiler tag though with newer movies or movies that are relatively easy to find I will put tags if i'm going to spoil a plot point.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

You won't find me posting spoilers, unless it's a thread dedicated to a TV series, after the episode airs it's fair game. For movies and games my opinion is "spoiler tags are there for a reason".

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Well here's 3 different articles...
That says 2 months after DVD/BR.
We've all had it happen: someone spoils a major plot twist in a movie or television show we haven't yet seen. It happened to me today. For various mundane reasons, I got a few episodes behind on AMC's "The...
That says a year after initial release.
That says soon as it's on home release.
So 15 years is plenty.Comment

Killing Them Softly
Very well executed but the story was standard overly predictable fare so overall just average and reminiscent of many better movies. (Drive,Snatch,Reservoir Dogs etc.) Didn't really do anything special. There was that one really great slo-mo kill scene that showed partially in the trailer. Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini were excellent together.Comment

Watched Zero Dark Thirty last night. Really enjoyed it... That chick can act!! Thought the events were well portrayed & you really sensed the emotion of the whole thing. Wasn't overly political, which was nice too.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS
