Godzilla '14 ---- I really wanted to like this more. I guess in part I've never been a big GZ fan. Even as a kid I always thought the original was pretty campy / goofy. I understand that for some that's part of its charm. I will say that the way he used his powers was a nice effect. Cranston was a good fit. Aaron Taylor Johnson was decent, but not captivating. Hopefully he'll fill the role as Quicksilver in the upcoming Avengers movie well. As a side note I hope they utilize and create his role well. I know people were really ga-ga about the X-Men version, but I actually thought he was excessively fast.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy in 3D last night, and really thought it was great. It had it's emotional moments, but definitely more than a few laugh out loud moments too.

I'll look forward to seeing this one again, especially since I'd been out at the bar beforehand and saw it at a new theater that sells alcohol. Some details may have not registered fully.

The Machinist. Even know I'm a huge fan of the Dark Knight trilogy, I believe this is Bale's best performance. And the fact that he lost 60 pounds for the role is just incredible. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of psychological thrillers.

Went to a theater in Fukuoka and watched the new Transformers.

It was a lot better than I had anticipated. Just like the others, it's a little bit too long. Explosions and flying shrapnel are cool until you're just ready for the movie to end. I'm not a Transformers kid so I actually know nothing about storylines.

I would say 7/10

Now I have to watch Firefly. Which reminds me I lent my season of Firefly to a friend and never got it back. And now it's thousands of miles away. Gear grinder.

Chiwetel Ejiofor as The Operative is one of the best villains in the last decade. Marvel should take note on how good you can make your villain.

I really can't stand Cameron Diaz in anything. She just really annoys the crap out of me for some reason. I can't imagine paying to see this.

Saw Divergent. Liked it better than Hunger Games (didn't see HG2). The ending was a bit "meh", but overall kept me intrigued. I hope this lead actress continues to hone her career. She seems to have the potential to score some good movies as she goes.
