 The Imitation Game.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, although as I understand it, there are something like 20 different historical inaccuracies in the film.I write things on the Internet.

Boyhood. Such a unique concept. That concept became surreal for me throughout the movie, it gave the movie such an authenticity like a documentary instead of a movie.

Aside from Ethan Hawke, the acting was spotty, but not too bad.Comment

 Penguins of Madagascar

Not really a good movie but I laughed quite a bit in the first two acts.

The last act killed it though.Comment

All I could think of when you posted this:

Watched Zoolander in its' entirety for the first time....had seen large chunks before. Pretty silly overall with some good lines/scenes here and there. I was amazed that Vince Vaughn was in it, but didn't have one line.Last edited by daflyboys; 01-26-2015, 10:25 AM.Comment

 The Imitation Game

I thought it was a really good movie, Benedict Cumberbatch is a class A actor and see why he was nominated. I liked the story but the jumping back and forth in time was a little too much. I would have preferred a singular timeline of the events but thats just me.

SpoilerIts unfortunate what Alan Turing had to go through to hide his homosexuality, Benedict really did a good job capturing the torture he went through. Especially that he practically ended the war figuring out the code.

As far as Oscars go, I didn't think it beats out any of the big names in Birdman, Boyhood, so i would be surprised if Benedict wins but not surprised he got a nomination.Last edited by RockinDaMike; 01-27-2015, 10:38 AM.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I was pumped to see "A Most Violent Year" a mob movie that has gotten good reviews and a 90 on RottenTomatoes, but the biggest criticism of the movie is it's lack of violence. A mob movie lacking violence?? I don't know.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Sort of in the grey area between spoiling a movie and divulging well-known historical facts about someone.

But yeah, spoiler it just to be safe.I write things on the Internet.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

It's only well known to those who know it well, but I wouldn't call it common knowledge. Thanks for your consideration. Not everyone would do so.

Hector and the Search for Happiness - I think you will be pleasantly surprised by this. This is a Simon Pegg sort of movie (sorry to say, he's just not a good Scotty, you Trekkies out there). This takes some interesting twists and turns and has very cool transitions between scenes. Good couples movie.Last edited by daflyboys; 01-27-2015, 05:55 PM.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I'm now watching the Ridley Scott masterpiece, Prometheus on FX. I love this movie. What a way to get me in the mood for some decent Sci-Fi movies that are expected to come out this year. I am speaking of the next blockbuster, Jupiter Ascending. Micheal Fassbender is awesome in this movie.

Holloway: "What we hoped to achieve was to meet our makers. To get answers. Why they even made us in the first place."
David: "Why do you think your people made me?"
Holloway: "We made because we could."
David: "Can you imagine how disappointing it would be to hear the same from your creator?"
Holloway: "I guess it's good you can't be disappointed."

David: "Big things have small beginnings."Last edited by bradtxmale; 01-27-2015, 09:21 PM.Comment
