The Dark Knight Rises - Apart from some pacing problems towards the end I actually think this is still on the level of Batman Begins considering some of the comic-book nature of the plot, developments, and resolution. Anne Hathaway is incredible as Catwoman and I really like this version more so than the Batman Returns iteration. I thought she was easily the best new character in the film. Bane is omnipotent and his dialogue is written well, but his resolution makes him flat. I really like JGL as "Robin" and his character was a nice foil to a younger Bruce, but the nonchalant attitude about discovering Batman's identity is still a little off. Hell, it would have been easy to piece together the evidence and I understand making Bruce and Robin come from the same no parents background, but the reasoning seems off.
Apart from that the action is well done and I enjoyed all the different plot-lines and their intersection. Without the presence of the Joker using Ra's and the League was a nice way to tie things up for the series.
I'm still disappointed we wont' get to see JGL as Nightwing.
Gladiator - Pretty straight-forward, no-nonsense historical epic drawing on other classics from the genre - particularly Ben Hur. Everything was very well done and Crowe was his usual high performing self. Joaquin Phoenix was awesome, too. I really liked how the movie did visual call-backs to movies like Ben Hur with the wide-shots of character dialogue and emphasis on the eyes - specifically Lucilla's. Awesome movie.
Gravity - Everything is well done and executed well. The movie is more spectacle than anything else and apart from that I felt bored during some parts. The story and characters were flat to me, but it was an entertaining ride for 90 minutes. I don't think I ever need to see it again, however.
