Mad Max: Fury Road was IN-FREAKING-SANE!!!!

I honestly have no clue how multiple stuntmen didn't die during filming.

Essentially a 2 hour chase. Awesome, awesome flick!!

Mad Max: Fury Road - Pretty damn crazy ride. I'm really pumped for more with Tom "I want to be The Punisher" Hardy.

Primer. Literally the most confusing movie I've ever seen, but ever since I watched Predestination I've been really interested in time travel. It's crazy that this movie was made with a 7 thousand dollar budget.

Ex Machina. Not sure how I felt about this one. Another in a line of Hollywood movies promoting equating robots and humans. It's a bit scary.

Completely opposite review for me. Didn't like the 2nd one, a lot of jokes didn't stick and didn't like the new girl. The germans where way over the top but I did love a lot of the cameos and the music was still pretty good.

I can definitely see where you're coming from with the jokes and the new girl.

I think the Germans, the music and Fat Amy outweigh (no pun intended) some of the negatives though

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I had a Charles Bronson double feature yesterday though not your typical stuff:

                  Breakout (1975)

This was based on a true story though the film cuts out a good chunk of the political aspect of it. Basically Bronson is a fast talking, charming con man type who's hired by Jill Ireland (his real life wife BTW) to free her husband Robert Duvall from a Mexican prison. Randy Quaid plays Bronson's partner who actually got roped into dressing up in drag in one of the attempts to free Duvall! The movie is actually pretty breezy and lighthearted and isn't your typical dark or violent Bronson flick. Bronson actually smiles a lot in this one and has a quick wit about him. It actually makes me wonder how he'd do in a straight up comedy role.

Overall I give this *** stars. The movie has a charm to it and the climax is actually a bit tense and gripping.

                  Act of Vengeance (1986)

This was an HBO TV movie telling the true life story of United Mine Workers organizer Jock Yablonski (Bronson) who tries to clean up the organization run by the corrupt Tony Boyle. (Wilford Brimley in a tough bastard role) Basically the film goes through the confrontation between the two and Yablonski's run for the UMW presidency which was rigged by Boyle. On top of all that Boyle has his boys cook up an assassination plot to kill Yablonski. The killers are completely inept as they try a couple times to kill him and have him dead to rights but it doesn't go off until the very end when the organization is practically breathing down on the killers' throats.

It's a pedestrian film, neither great nor bad but it held my interest. The acting was top notch from Bronson, Brimley, Ellen Burstyn and others. While some might find the film a bit plodding at times it was actually pretty well told with a concise and tight script. The only complaint I have about the movie were the two sex scenes with the head assassin and his wife. There's no actual nudity but it's DISTURBING to watch and they go on for quite a while. I have no clue what those scenes were trying to achieve other than the fact in the first scene it's clear that his wife has zero interest in him and in the 2nd she's only doing it to egg him on so they can get the $10,000 bucks they would be paid for killing off Yablonski.

** 1/2 stars mainly due to the tight script and excellent acting especially from Brimley who I always picture as a kindly but gruff sort but in this movie he's a real bastard.

Very, very late to the party - but I FINALLY watched all of "The Natural". Feel ashamed that I had let a movie that great pass me by. Was able to then go buy the dvd at my local Barnes and Noble for 5 bucks. I've now watched it 4 times in a week. Now one of my all-time favorites...

Picked up Kingsman on Amazon Instant as an alternative to John Wick (which we havent watched yet) because we figured it would be less graphic/visit lent with our 3 year old bouncing around the house... Oops.

Good movie overall, lived up to expectations i built up as other positive reviews came in while it was in theaters.

What movies have you seen recently?

What We Do In The Shadows, a reality show spoof featuring a clan of vampires that go through every day petty stuff and problems you wouldn't think of, such as how do you know if your clothes look good on you since you can't cast a reflection in the mirror? Sort of like The Real World with vampires. Low key, seldom laugh-out-loud funny but very humorous and charming. I like it a lot.

Blue Is The Warmest Color, an award winning French film from 2013 about a teenage girl who realizes she is a lesbian and gets into a heavily charged emotional and sexual relationship with a more experienced girl. First of all, the sex scenes are shockingly long and very near hard core (the film is rated NC-17). With that out of the way, I will say the film is highly emotional and the 2 lead actresses, particularly the main actress (Adele) are sensational. But the movie is 3 hours long. Some of the scenes seem ridiculously overlong (such as when they show Adele at her job) and it does get boring at times. Still, the lead character is compelling, the relationship rings true and as I said the performances are top notch. The director could have easily trimmed 30-45 minutes and still made a very compelling film that didn't seem as bloated. Hard to really recommend but definitely worth a look if you are into foreign movies or just want to see a really intense relationship movie.

Jupiter Ascending is a terrible movie.

Cool concept, but has a lot of plot holes and cheesy/corny acting.

Mila Kunis is the only upside.

                            Agengers: Age of Ultron

Great flick, loved the cold open with all the Avengers working together as a team. The action set pieces were awesome throughout and James Spader was excellent voicing Ultron. Things are shaping up pretty well for the next two flicks.

I was looking for movies similar to "Braveheart" and google recommended me "Rob Roy" Many user reviews on IMDB and other sites were saying it was better than Braveheart so I decided to give it a try and finished the movie. It is nowhere in the same league as Braveheart. Not saying its a bad movie cause it's not but Braveheart is just epic. Not too many movies comes close.

Similar, like that time era? Lots of people probably don't like Braveheart because of the apparent liberties taken with historical fact. But, I agree.... still epic.
