Jaybee I think he's talking about the Japanese movie that The Departed was based on. Which by the way is awesome. I still have to watch the other two movies in the trilogy.

They were made in Hong Kong. Part 2 is very good as well. Part 3 it kind of turns into a Godfather-esque thing.

Battle Los Angeles. Bit corny and cliche in parts, but entertaining. Worth 1 look.

One of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. Like you said it's cliche and corny but it does every movie stereotype pretty well.

            Big Hero 6

It's good to see that there is animation competition to Pixar, there has been for the past half-decade now. I still think Pixar provides a glow about their spin on originality, but good art and entertainment is sometimes all you need. Though in all, this is a good rival to The Incredibles. Pixar, make a sequel now!

Anyway, onto this film. It never really takes a break, but that's for the most part a good thing. There is no: "Pause it, I need to use the restroom" moment. One scene always cliffhangers to the next scene. Good, brisk storytelling. It's only slightly emotional, but I didn't feel it too much. I was mostly overjoyed. Baymax (spelling?) was hilarious from the get-go, and always stuck to character.

However, it didn't try really hard to be unpredictable and the third act grew only slightly tiresome. Also, it has the issue that all superhero movies has of giving people separate yet convenient powers. The other heroes weren't really interesting when they were heroes as much as they were as their normal selves. And for goodness sake, please stop hiring T.J. Miller for voice acting. His voice is grating. It was the same in How to Train Your Dragon, and his characters nearly ruined Cloverfield and She's Out of My League.

At long last, this animated picture was well thought out with a great cityscape and room for sequels. I'm all in!

I started off wanting to show my wife an alien invasion movie and I recall something about the main characters getting stuck in an apartment for a long time before they eventually got to the hub of the craft, but couldn't remember what it was. Any idea?

Paper Towns. Would have been a better movie if it would have followed the book.

I had never heard of Attack the Block until reading the short description out of boredom one day in the cable guide while channel surfing. Did a quick Google and saw it received better than average reviews. Glad I gave it a chance as I ended up really enjoying the movie.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

If you're hoping for an epic HT experience, turn the volume knob up +10.0dB... and don't think something is wrong with the system when you are wondering why there isn't any sound from the explosions in the opening scene.

                              Love the film, though!

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

                                The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

I thought this was a really good spy flick. Cavell and Hammer made a great duo that hated each other. The banter between them was fantastic and expected it be being a Guy Ritchie film. I don't know if this did well in the box office so I don't know if they will make a sequel but I hope they do, I really enjoyed this film. Well directed, solid action scenes but the best parts were between Cavell and Hammer, great chemistry. What lacked was a great villain but it was more about these two and the lead female working together than going against a foe.

This was surprisingly very funny and I think I laughed more than I did with Spy which was a comedy. Cavell proves he can do more than Superman and hope to see him in other things. Hammer needs to fire his agent because he should be Aquaman or some superhero. He made Superman look small in this movie.

So after thinking about it this was the year of the Spy films with 5 movies and I put this in the top 3.

                                Best 2015 Spy films:

                                1. Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation
                                2. Kingsman
                                3. The Man from U.N.C.L.E
                                4. Spy
                                5. Spectre

Kingsman and TMFU are very close, another day they could switch but I'm basing it more entertainment than actual spy film which TMFU was a better spy film but Kingsman had so many memorable moments for me, IE the Church scene, training sequence and Firth was just surprisingly awesome as an agent.

MI5 is one of my favorite films of the year. Mind blowing stunts and the villain was one of the best villains in a long time. Just fantastic.

I thought Spy was pretty funny, especially Statham and was enterained the whole time.
