Manchester by the Sea? The Casey Affleck movie where he started out dismal and depressed and then later was dismal and depressed and then became more dismal and depressed .... a 7? That movie was like bamboo sticks under the fingernails bad. Could not finish.

Blackkklansman - I'm too close to Star Wars in general and have a hate/love affair in particular with Episode 7-9 and maybe probably been too hard on Adam Driver but his role in Blackkklansman changed that, I realise how much I actually like him and want to see more of his movies, just not his SW stuff. I also didn't know Denzel had a son who was an NFL player turned actor. his turn in Blackkklansman was every bit as good as Driver's. I hope Ron Stallworth has more tales to tell, and writes another book that gets adapted to the big screen. forget the Dos Equis most interesting man in the world, that title now belongs to Stallworth AFAIC

Have you seen Marriage Story? Driver is great in that one.

Hell, he's even great in Logan Lucky.

But yes, he and Johansson are fantastic in Marriage Story. That one scene with them is mesmerizing.

previously I had only seen Driver in the SW sequels and SNL, I'll be willing to give his other work a chance now though

I think it could have been a great movie with that cast, but fell very short.

I'm confused. Are you saying you think the cast that accepted to be in the movie would have only done it if a good script, or that you wish the cast would have heightened whatever movie was produced in the first place?

If the latter, I really think they did, especially Driver's deadpan redneck cadence. Heck, even Hilary Swank killed it when she first showed up. The only unnecessary casing element really was Seth MacFarlane, and he didn't hurt anything either.

If you mean the former... well, I personally enjoy the movie a lot. It's not high-octane or anything like that, but it was a good find in my book. Whenever I Redbox a movie because it wasn't quite enough for me to see it in theaters at the time, it's because I might have some trepidation that the film would at best be "just okay," so you'll often not see me buy a movie after I had rented it to begin with. I have some exceptions here and there though (in most recent years I did this with Sonic the Hedgehog, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Halloween, The Greatest Showman, Sicario, Hell or High Water, Creed II, and Game Night), and Logan Lucky was no exception.

I'm speaking to the script. From my viewpoint, the trailer highlighted the best of the best which happens fairly often. Matter of choice is all, but I know what you mean. I agree about Sicario and the The Greatest Showman.

When we watched we had basically zero expectations and I could not remember seeing any promotion for the movie whenever it was released in theaters. Suffice to say it was a fun, entertaining caper. I'm not sure how it would have fared if we went in expecting it to be great or fantastic, but its definitely a quirky movie for better or worse.

Yeah, I didn't see any trailers before. I think I may have seen a moment when Daniel Craig said something like "I am IN. CAR. CER. A. TED." That was enough for me to say: "Sold!" The rest just fell into line, heh.

And if what I've said recently is any indicator, I really don't watch trailers anymore. Sometimes I have to watch just enough to decide if I'll ever have any interest, but if I decide I'm interested then I bounce out of that trailer. If I'm not interested, I don't mind watching it through and even reading spoilers (not that I do), because I'm just not into seeing the movie in the first place I guess.

One of the greatest movies about Adolph Hitler. What really put’s it over the top is the intense top of the line acting and the fact the entire film is spoken in German.

I watch this once a year. A true madman of unspeakable evil to mankind and his own country. Watching him become completely unhinged in this film is nerve racking.

On another note we watched Terminator Dark Fate last night.

Meh.....a totally different story arc and direct sequel to T2. The series has truly run its course.

                                I actually enjoyed Terminator Genisys.

I like the John Conner arc far more.

For those that have not seen this.....again a direct sequel to the T2 and it disregards T3, Salvation (which I disregarded the moment the credits rolled) and the more recent Genisys which I found a very entertaining Terminator movie.

This one simply takes the story arc off the rails. And felt totally like....been there, done that.

The series is dead IMO. Permanently. James Cameron wrote this too. Not one of his finer moments at all.

The action was very good. The story stunk.
