I need to rewatch the Rocky movies. I’ve seen 4 a million times, and 3 a thousand, but the other ones I don’t really remember.

Currently binging the MCU movies, ranking them, the heroes, and villains, I’m through Black Panther with the GOAT Infinity War on deck, and my question is how do you guys feel about the Incredible Hulk? I was surprised to see how low it seems to rank on peoples MCU ranking. I think I like it so much because I just like Ed Norton a lot more than Ruffalo and the movie feels like a monster movie which I love, like if you told me there was going to be a Hulk vs Kong movie I’d believe you, and be in the theater day 1. My MCU bar is Thor which I think is the perfect middle of the road MCU movie, the first question I ask after a movie finishes is is this better than Thor and then move from there, and I think it’s better than Thor.

I feel you. The vibe is a lot more somber and he really removed the entire 1985 vibe.

The fight sounds were more realistic. Agreed on that.

I felt the first 15 minutes felt clumsy and jarring. And it did set the tone of the entire first act.

It is certainly different and I did not hate it. However I went ahead and watched the original cut again and still prefer it. What made that movie stand out from the other sequels was…..it was not the same formula and they went for that slicker MTV generation vibe and it worked for that movie.

Also the new cut was really grainy.

All these movies (particularly Rocky thru Rocky 4) need a serious remaster and transfer to 4K HD.

I have the 40th anniversary BD box set of all 6 films and other than Rocky the transfers are terrible, fulled with black specs and cheap transfers. This series deserves the 4K HD treatment.

First 15 minutes, R3 recap definitely too long, clunky. One of my few criticisms for RvD and totally agree. I was sitting there thinking jeez how much of the last movie you gonna recap here Sly???

OK, Armor, you're going to be shocked to hear this, but my ranking is nearly identical to yours. Just flip Rocky II and Rocky Balboa and that's my ranking.

And, definitely agree about the films needing the full 4K treatment.

There's no problem with spoiler-tagging it, or there is an argument that can be made (which I wouldn't agree with) that the thread for the film can go with spoilers now that it's out on digital. Just not from an unsuspecting party in the general movie impressions thread.

What movies have you seen recently?

It’s a movie that relies entirely on its 3 leads but none of them can act. The Rock had more chemistry with Lilian the ring announcer than he’s ever had with a female lead in his movies. Ryan Reynolds can only play Deadpool because his obnoxiousness there is a feature and not a bug. Gal Gadot is beautiful so I forgive her for her part in this. I did laugh at the Jurassic Park joke. The most interesting part of the movie was that it made me ask myself is there a single good actor in the main cast of the Fast and Furious franchise and I haven’t come up with an answer yet.

King Richard is pretty good, Will Smith is great in it.
