The Ringer had a review that praised it. I tend to agree with a lot of their movie/TV writers, so that's promising to me.

I tend to shy away from/not be interested in movies that have a borderline religious following like that franchise does. I'm sure there are people who haven't seen it yet but are mad at any critic who would give it a negative review.

I haven't read up on it, but I balked on seeing a screening on Tuesday because I wouldn't have been able to last. I woke up at 4:00 AM that day and only had slept for four hours, so I would've crashed about 90 minutes in (which by my count I'm sure is roughly halfway through).

I'll probably have to see it next weekend.

            Really???
The battle scenes were great, but it was so cheesy.
Also, it was so full of ****!..
Now having said that, I did enjoy it.
But 10/10??…. Nah man. 6.5 out of 10

What movies have you seen recently?

              Avatar The Way of Water

What a weird experience in the theater. The movie just starts like the first one was Star Wars and I actually remember anything that happened in it. Spent the first half hour saying “who the **** is this” “what is going on” a lot. 2 hours in, I’m thinking this is one of the worst theater experiences I’ve had. The story is just doing nothing for me, the characters aren’t memorable, the only redeeming quality is the visuals. Then…the last hour or so, the legendary director of Aquaman decided to show up and I kinda got it. There’s a point when there’s about to be a big rescue, and the visuals are beautiful, and the music is beautiful, and it finally all comes together and it just made me appreciate movies. Overall, probably somewhere between a 1.5 and 2.5 out of 5, for 2 and a half hours it was pretty much the worst movie I’ve seen this year.

I actually went back to watch the Blu-ray of the first Avatar yesterday and only made it 40 minutes before I had to turn it off. Looks disgustingly video gamey and the entire first like 20 minutes is narrated. Avatar just does nothing for me.

Bought it on iTunes cause someone said it was Spike’s best movie. Definitely don’t agree with that but it’s solid. Need to do a Spike run soon.

I'm going to have to check that out. Cast looks amazing. Damon Wayans, Paul Mooney, Tommy Davidson, etc. And it looks extremely not PC.

Disclaimer: it is a really weird movie lol. I don’t want to downplay that. I also think it’s a better idea than movie if that makes sense, I can see what Spike wanted to do even if it wasn’t executed perfectly. The movie could’ve been made yesterday though, it’s as relevant as ever to me.

Liked the new Pinocchio, but it's way darker than the Disney classic and incorporates some political themes. Not sure how family-friendly it is as a result.

On The Line - 9 out of 10. Probably the best movie Mel Gibson did since We Were Soldiers. Hot Seat which also released this year was good too. It seems he has hit stride with these thriller suspense movies this year.

The Possessed - 7 out of 10. My expectations were low since I never heard of this movie. However it was surprisingly good and not your typical demonic possession type of movie. It is also based on real life events that has occurred as recently as 2019. To me this guy is like the Australian version of The Warrens. In the credits it shows original film of him doing these things.

The Desperate Hour - 7 out of 10. It was okay for a Naomi Watts starred movie. I enjoyed it even though parts of it made no sense of why she did the things she did.

My internets been out a week, part of living in paradise but I have a hard drive full of stuff for these moments. Just went through 4 seasons of Vikings (awesome) and just watched Shot Callers

Didn’t know Jaimie Lannister had in him but I enjoyed it a lot. I think there should be a sequel to see where he’s at during his stint in prison.
