I don't care about the Alien movies but I'm excited about a new sci-fi movie series.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

      That's the rumor.

      FOX releases a synopsis:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction **** set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.
A lot of duh, but they had to do something when someone yesterday leaked an unofficial synopsis that was proven to be a fake.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Is this really a prequel to Alien?

Scott has stated "its barely connected" to Alien, but I keep seeing it tagged as a prequel to Alien.

                  Yeah, that's what's confusing me.
In a recent IGN article, it seems like Scott is doing his best to remove any ties to the Alien franchise at all.
But there seems to be quite a bit of evidence to suggest this is a prequel.

I'm watching this regardless. Even if it's not associated (which I hope it is), it looks really good.

That is the confusion with this and I wonder if he's doing that to surprise people. I hope it's a prequel to Alien that would be great. There are a few things that people have spotted as to a connection but not 100% certain.

It's a prequel if you consider anything that happened before Alien to be a prequel story.

But it isn't because it won't have characters from the original Alien franchise.

So Scott and Lindelof are calling it everything but a prequel. It's based on the world of Alien.

Those are some good looking special effects.
