Re: Operation Repo
I've seen bits and pieces of it a few times and looking back on it, I can see where it is fake. The interactions are "Springer" like. If nobody had told me it was fake, then I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but in hindsight I can see where the people don't necessarily react the way a "normal" person who gets something repossessed would react.
P.S. This is the show with the heavyset hispanic woman and her family right?PSN: Koolie_G

Re: Operation Repo
Operation Repo is a faux reality show on truTV.[1], where a fictional repossession team from the San Fernando Valley in California re-enact the repossession of vehicles for finance companies, due to the owners' failure to keep up their car payments.
Some of the actions shown violate the Collateral Recovery Act of the State of California and are only for dramatic purposes. Repossession agents are prohibited from breaching the peace (ie: fighting and wresting with debtors). However, some of the actors on the team were repossession agents in real life.[2]
Although as a channel, truTV is described as presenting "Reality TV", Operation Repo consists of scripted reenactments where the team is often confronted by actors portraying debtors with prop weapons, prop drugs, and naked women; and with actors portraying police officers with prop weapons and prop squad cars.

Re: Operation Repo
All you have to do is watch it to know it's fake. I remember the first time I saw it, some guys pulled out their guns and was going to shoot the repo guys, they ran and got in their cars and took off. guys still had their guns out, funny thing about it... the camera men were left behind and the "bad guys" seemed to have no problem with them.Comment

Re: Operation Repo
I said the same thing to my dad, their motto is(or at least was) "Not reality, actuallity". Either they scrapped that, or they think that since it's based off of real events it fits the description.Comment

Re: Operation Repo
Maybe some of the episodes are realistic and whatnot but the few that I saw were clearly fake from the moment they began. One featured a man suffering some sort of super not-real heart attack/convulsion and the cut to commercial featured an upcoming episode of a group of Dungeons and Dragons reenactment people getting their cars repossessed or something while they tried to cast spells on the repo people.Comment
