    Lonesome Dove (greatest western ever)

the complete version of the "Lonesome Dove" series, the best western of all time imo, is on AMC this weekend for a 20 year anniversary commemoration. Tommy Lee Jones is hosting it.

Ive seen it a million times, but ive heard that they included some extra scenes. Ive got my TIVO set on record for all 4 episodes.

Woodrow (Tommy Lee Jones) and Gus (Robert Duvall) are two of the best cinematic characters ever. I would highly recommend this movie to any fans of westerns or really any fans of epic adventure stories.

Thanks for the heads up. I agree with you 1000%. This mini-series was an all-time cult classic in my family. We still use so many lines from that show, especially not liking a surly ....

Agreed. Lonesome Dove and Shogun are my favourite old-school (ie, non-HBO) miniseries of all time.

Yep, course we use the line for anything. I loved how Call knew what was coming and he justs turns away.

It really is a great movie man. It's long, but it's one of those epics that gets better and better as it goes along.

The movie is true to the book, which actually won a Pulitzer prize...and the cast in the movie is one of the best ive seen. It's epic in every sense of the word.

Re: Lonesome Dove (greatest western ever)

Lonesome Dove is one of the most underrated shows of all time. I bet there are a lot of people that have never seen it, that might not even be fans of the Western genre, that would still love it.

Both Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones were fantastic. In Return to Lonesome Dove, it took the whole show to get used to Jon Voight as Woodrow, but he still didn't hold a candle to Tommy Lee Jones.

Anyone who hasn't seen it, owes it to themselves to watch it, they will be in for a treat.
