Version will put you in a contract that's why I would never switch from them, even though Cablevison are thieves, I will stay with them. Fios does not give you NY sports like Cablevison does. That's another reason I would never switch to Fios.

agreed with the contract thing... that's the only thing that's throwing me off about it but.. with what their giving me, i'm getting a lot more channels + a lot of their on demand stuff for about 20-30 bucks cheaper than what cablevision and their iO service are charging me (i have the triple play plan with iO silver)

I have the silver plan from optimum, and yes you may be paying cheaper now, but one the year is up from when you signed your monthly rate will sky rocket. My friend from work had the same silver plan as me, switched to fios and when his year was up, he is now paying more for Fios then he paid for his optimum.

Everyone I know (all in MA) that has switched to FiOS has regretted it and switched back. I tried browsing the internet at my uncle's place and it was 56k-like in terms of speed. I was shocked at how terrible the service was. I don't know if its just a Massachusetts thing or if a lot of people have had a terrible experience with it. And everyone I know that had it is also in the Boston market, so its not like they're out in the boonies. I would check with people in your area to see how their experience has been. I wanted to switch to it from Comcast because I hate Comcast, but after all of the negative comments I've received on it I decided against it.

Ill give you my side and then my friends and you decide.

I say i didnt notice a change at all. I really mean i didnt notice a change at all with the internet. Now the cable, i didnt like it but your not getting it anyway.

My friend (2 miles away max) thinks the world of fios. Swears everything internet related improved.

For the record, i usually ask him internet/network questions.
