Re: Zombieland
I didn't like it. Much like Left 4 Dead it's poorly structured with little explanation as to how things got how they are. (Though L4D had NO explanation so I guess little is better than none.) Wouldn't have hurt to add 10 minutes for a better explanation.
Some of the fun looking parts in the trailer were the entire thing. Like Tallahassee with the mask and chainsaws,I thought that was going to be awesome and in the movie it's just that shot and the main guy saying "He's in the *** kicking bussiness" and the nun with the piano, thought there was going to be something good there too but the entire thing was in the trailer. They were just randomly tossed in scenes.
Couldn't much care for the characters either way.
The Bill Murray part was great and one of the 2 parts I really enjoyed.SpoilerThe other was at the end when the twinkie got shot.Last edited by goh; 10-11-2009, 05:34 PM.Comment

Re: Zombieland
I don't think a backstory for the monsters in horror films is ever really required. Personally, I don't care if there is a backstory or not, especially if its just thrown in there and has no real affect on the storyline.
I thought the origin of the virus they gave was creative.

Re: Zombieland
Maybe someone can clear this up for me because it's the one thing that didn't make sense to me and I feel like I must have missed something.
Tallahassee and Columbus were headed East. Little Rock and Wichita were headed West.
So, why did they run into each other after both stole the Cadillac SUV? Shouldn't Tallahassee and Columbus have been heading in a completely different direction?
It was never explained. Also, for Little Rock and Wichita to just be chilling out, anticipating their arrival, as zombies were walking around mind you, seemed extremely far-fetched and stupid.
I just felt like they wanted these characters together and went about getting them together in the wrong way. Why write into these holes when it can be easily revised? Why have one group heading East and the other heading West if you wanted them to stick around? Why have two girls just hiding out in an open highway with killer zombies roaming just to wait for the arrival of men that might not even come? The girls could have headed to the amusement park without all that nonsense.
Just didn't make sense."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I still don't understand the girls waiting. Really makes very little sense unless I missed something about that."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Zombieland
Ok, that's what I was thinking. I do remember him saying that he wanted his Cadillac back. I mean he had guns, guns, a Hummer, and more guns. But he wanted his Cadillac and I can accept that because the man also wanted a twinkie. He just wanted what he wanted.

Re: Zombieland
I loved it. It's Left 4 Dead the movie.
I don't mind that there was no backstory. There didn't need to be one. Columbus basically told you the little story that there was, I mean, how would he even know any further info anyway? It's not like any of the 4 were involved in this in any way, they were just all trying to stay alive, ala Left 4 Dead.
Great movie, and a better horror/comedy than Shaun of the Dead even.
If you keep it in just the horror genre, it may be the best horror film released since The Descent.Comment

Re: Zombieland
I mean the part where they are in the highway. They already stole his Cadillac. Why were they hiding in the middle of the highway?
They had everything they needed to get to the amusement park. There was no sense in them parking the Cadillac and hiding out to con the guys again.
Unless I missed something (maybe them mentioning they ran out of gas or something) then it is a plot device written only to bring the characters together and it makes no sense."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
