I washed my ipod.

Yea so we all make mistakes and miss that one pocket in cargo shorts. Anyway my ipod went through the washer. Wont turn on and computer wont reconize it. Is there anything i can do? Ways of getting them fixed or is it just buy a new one? I know some cell phones will work after bad water damage but i doubt the ipod will. Any suggestions?

Is it a Nano or Touch with flash?

Either way, let it sit out for a day or 2 and dry out. Don't use a blow dryer or anything, just let it naturally dry, then try it again.

Thanks! Its a nano. At this point i dont care if the screen doesnt work i just want to be able to hook it up to my car. Thanks though.

Did it at least get clean?

Put it in an air proof plastic container with rice. Leave it completely closed for a week (7 days).

DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON WHILE IT IS WET.

I heard that with cell phones so im going to try it. I guess i will find out in a week. Now i hope i have rice at home. Thanks for the help

done it before, well, my son did it. like others have said, just be patient and let it dry. once everything inside COMPLETELY dries out is will come back to life, at least my son's did...good luck...

If you don't have rice, you can use that Silicone Gel packs that come with new shoes, or other packages. You know the packs that says "Don't Eat". They are good for moisture.

Like Pared said, put it in an Air Tight Container. Since it's a Nano you have a chance at letting it dry out. If it was a regular hard-drive type of iPod, I would say freeze it for fun cause it would most likely be a lost cause.

DO NOT FREEZE IT. Just do the rice/sealed container thing and let it sit for a week. Again, be patient and just let it be. The rice will take all the moisture (like magic!).

Your device should be fine so long as there wasn't a short circuit. iPods/iPhones are actually built like tanks in terms of their electrical parts.
