No that's not verification at all, that list was horrible.

Stuff likes this really makes me feel bad for MJ. He was supposed to be on top of the world, but he just had a string of bad luck. He broke his nose playing basketball in the 70s, his hair caught on fire in the 80s, as well as being diagnosed with vitiligo. Plus not having a childhood and being stuck in a childlike mindstate made him become too naive and trusting of people, who did nothing but take advantage of him. I feel that if his hair never caught on fire, he never would have became addicted to painkillers, because by all accounts, he was very ANTI-drug.

And that's supposed to mean something to me? I mean seriously, Rolling Stone? Are you kidding me? LMAO

I didn't know Rolling Stone specialized in hip hop. That magazine lost its credibility to me when on that same list, I believe Thriller is ranked in the 30s. Also, even though its not my personal favorite album, you can't have a list of classic albums that includes rap, and not list Illmatic.

To Rolling Stone that's a legit list.

But when a list of top albums only includes two rap albums and both are from one artist, it loses credibility.

A true list should include music from all genres and not ignore all artists.

Not only that, they include two albums by a rapper who debuted in 1999, when hip hop itself started in the late 70s. So they mean to tell me that NO rap album was of quality for TWENTY YEARS until Eminem came out? Thats a slap in the face to all the dudes that came before Eminem, that HE HIMSELF was influenced by.

While that's true you could also look at it as a testament to how good those albums were to be two of the few rap albums to make the list.

It actually included several rap albums.

It was obviously heavily rock favored and heavily culture based (Nirvana at #17).

However, Eminem, Jay-Z, EPMD, The Fugees, LL, BIG, Public Enemy, Nas, Outkast, De La Soul, Run DMC, Eric B and Rakim, Wu, Dr Dre, NWA, and the Beastie Boys were all on the list (as a quick look over and a few have 2-3 albums).

Granted, it butchers the rap perspective with Illmatic at 400 and Stankonia being the Outkast album, but it's not quite as bad as stated earlier.

It hits most of the mainstream classics that make up magazine lists top 5-10. To people who like rap, it's a joke, but for a rock magazine, it's not as abysmal as possible.

Ah, I thought someone said it only had two albums. Next time I'm doing research before listening to you fools!

Kanye speaking on the rumors that he was the new King of Pop:

"I WAS JUST LISTENING TO WENDY WILLIAMS AND HEARD SOME QUOTE ABOUT ME SAYING I'M THE NEW KING OF POP. NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE. ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN TYPE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET AND THEN THE WORLD BELIEVES IT. I DON'T TALK TO PRESS OR DO TV OR DO PROMOTIONS OF ANY SORT. I'VE STOPPED CHASING AND BUYING INTO FAME. FAME IS LIKE CIGARETTES WITH NO SURGEON GENERAL WARNING. IT DESTROYS MOST PEOPLE AS IT DID TO THE TRUE AND ONLY KING OF POP. WE EXPLOIT OURSELVES AND EAT OUR OWN EGOS 'TILL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS WON'T BE THE LAST FALSE STATEMENT WITH MY NAME ON IT, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I DEFEND MYSELF. I'M DONE."

Looks like MJ's mom has custody of the kids now.

Question though. Everyone always talks about MJ's crazy childhood and how that contributed into turning him into such a "different" individual. Is it really good to throw his kids to the same people who raised MJ? Aren't his parents still married?

Just throwing that out there, hopefully it's a better home life than MJ had, but I'm not sure I'd want my kids to be raised by the same people who turned MJ into the perpetual kid he ended up being.

I don't know if they are legally separated, but Katherine and Joseph do not live with each other. Katherine has also long expressed her displeasure with Joseph's parenting skills and choices. She obviously appreciates what her sons and daughters became, but she never agreed with the methods taken to accomplish those goals.

It's also important to recognize that Michael had his children spend time with Katerine and wanted her to raise them which only leads me to believe that he knows she wouldn't do to them what his dad did to him.

Joe and Katherine Jackson are still married, but Joe lives in Vegas while Katherine is in LA. I am one of the few people who does NOT blame Joe for MJ being the way he was. True enough, he did not have a childhood, but MJ himself credits Joe for making him the entertainer he became to be.

The media make it out that Joe was tying the kids up and beating them with a 2X4 and depriving them of food. He was just extra strict and they got whoopings with a belt. People tend to forget that in the 70s, the media was writing the Jackson 5 off as a "hasbeen group." They left Motown and went to CBS and resurrected their career, but when MJ totally broke away from his brothers and became MEGA successful, that's what did the most damage.

If MJ never became a big solo star with "Off the Wall," he probably would have had some semblance of a normal life (for a celebrity). Because "Off the Wall" was a huge success, then he followed that up with the most successful album of all time in "Thriller", he reached unprecedented levels of popularity. Once a person gets that big, the media tries to find something wrong with them. It sells more papers. It didn't help that his hair caught on fire and he suffered from vitiligo. For a person who is in the spotlight like he was, that had to damage his self esteem a lot.

Thanks for the input guys, makes more sense now. I just heard so much about his whacked out childhood and it made me wonder. Glad they'll be in pretty good hands then.

Po Pimp, I agree with you. If Joe was anything like they portrayed him in The Jackson's American Dream mini series then he was a lot like my dad who was hard on you, made you work hard and punished with a belt. Old school Filipino dad, and I'm sure that's how a lot of old school American dads were too.

Though it was tough to grow up in, it made me tough today and I really appreciated him kept me in a straight path to be successful. I believe Michael having success and fame at an early age and never really slowing down had to do more with his issues more than anything.
