Smallville Headed To The Big Screen?

AICN.com posted a rumor that Smallville just may be.... kinda.... could be planning to perhaps.... somehow.... possibly.... film a feature length Smallville movie.

On black, with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and a transparent grey Superman "S" watermark behind the text:
METROPOLIS

CHRISTMAS 2010

Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place


Right now it's just in the rumor mill but what does this mean for the series? Do you think it's likely? Even more what does it mean for the Superman film franchise starring Brandon Routh. I guess we'll find out when the San Diego Comic-Con takes place across July 23-26

Let the speculation begin!

I wouldn't mind at all. I'm not sure where they plan on ending the series, so I'm gonna need some closure. And hopefully this is it.

I wouldnt mind it either I guess they finally got Tom talked into wearing the tights which is the reason I hear why we havent seen Superman yet. But I hope this dosent do away with Brandon Routh as Superman on film he was very good. My guess is since the WB is wanting to do a Justice League movie and the League is almost completely there on Smallville, minus Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern that they could be using this as their stepping stone into a JL movie. They have a good cast for it.

This seems vaguely like some sort of settling.

Instead of trying to get better/more artistic in the franchise lets just stick with the TV show that does okay numbers.

I always wanted the Superman actor in Smallville to play the Superman in the recent movies

His name is Tom Welling. He is dreamy.

That being said, I'm not sure what kind of Superman he would make. I was always the proponent of kicking Routh out of the role for Welling, but the last couple of seasons have really soured me in terms of his actual acting ability.

Oh yeah, and if it's a Smallville movie that doesn't end with him in the suit, it will bomb.

They have muscle suits and things to fix that. But Routh is my favorite Superman other than Chris Reeve. Thats a given for most everyone isnt it?

Sorry but I'm of the opinion that NOBODY has nailed the role of Superman yet.

Christopher Reeves did a great Clark Kent though.

Can't see anyway for this to result in something good. Smallville is so far off the tracks from typical superman that I doubt theres a real audience for a film.

I highly doubt they'd be using a muscle suit for Welling... the dude is ripped.

But I agree with bjowers, I thought Routh did a very good job.
