Did anyone else watch this last nite? I thought it was *very* good. The way it ended means it was obviously intended to be continued, I'm guessing as possibly a TV-series. But word was FOX cut it down and only wanted a TV movie...here's hoping it gains steam and it's picked up.

Fox already killed it before it aired. thats why it was billed as a "TV movie event" damn Fox.

and the damn thing was awesome too....

Yeah, it's hard to understand why they would do that. There's a push (of course) to get people to write to FOX and SciFi and pick it up as a series, so maybe there's hope.

What did you make of the ending? It was obvious to me the captain deliberately killed himself in the airlock. And with the VR program he left for the woman, was he hinting at something along the lines of the entire trip being not real (ie: VR) or was he just crazy?

SciFi is stupid, for some reason they won't pickup shows that get canceled on network tv. They do have 3 shows from BBC. Most of the canceled shows on network tv would bring better ratings than most if not all the shows on SciFi.

I also liked the concept of the Orion Drive. Anyone read Larry Niven? I think it was Footfall where they used an Orion Drive to launch into space to fight the aliens. Good to see some science in a TV SciFi(imagine that!) instead of just glossing over the details.

According to everything I've read, yeah... Sci-Fi tends to shy away from projects that at that budget weren't feasable on network TV. At a lesser market share these shows present a bigger fiscal risk with the label of "fail" already attached once.
