Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
I don't really care if they keep making them but I don't know how people can keep watching these movies. They're like the Dynasty Warriors of the movie industry.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
- Only seeing the first one
- Only seeing the first three
- Seeing all of them
Basically, it wouldn't do you any justice to just watch the first two or the first five, or watching the first one, third one, and wait for the seventh one to come out. The first one works well as a standalone, the first three work great as a trilogy, and so far all of them are somehow intertwining with one another so it wouldn't hurt to watch all of them either.
I'm just saying, if you watch only the ones you watched, you don't get the best experience (whether you appreciated them from the beginning at all or not). By the way, the fourth one is my least favorite, especially because of the terrible directing and editing. You may have found it very laughable, but unless you saw the other two that connect with Saw IV, you probably made it become one of the worst movies ever in your eyes.
I don't even know why I'm defending any of the ones after Saw III. I was completely against them destroying the trilogy.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
Unfortunately, if there's one thing that holds true to these movies, it's that it really is best if you watch them in order. Secondly, as far as I'm concerned, you're best off watching the movies in one of these three ways:
- Only seeing the first one
- Only seeing the first three
- Seeing all of them

Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
Ya man IV was just terrible in my eyes because of the editing, directing, and acting combined. I tried to give Saw II a chance when it was on the movie channels but I could not make it past the first ten or fifteen minutes on several occasions. Maybe not that amount of minutes exactly, but whenever that guy got in the furnace or something like that...I just tuned out. Not because I am scared of a little gore, more like because I didn't want to waste my time watching the rest of the movie.
And you're lucky you only got that far, and on TV to boot. I know it doesn't censor anything, but you're still only getting the theatrical version. I don't know if you've heard of the needle pit scene, but combine that with the unrated version and you wouldn't want to watch a Saw movie again, based on your reactions to the furnace scene.
I'm just confused as to how they are getting away with making seven of these. But obviously they have a a cult or loyal fanbase (didn't know which word best describes it).
Regardless, that doesn't make it right.
EDIT: By the way, that's probably about a half hour into the movie, so I'd say you were a little off.Last edited by Blzer; 07-25-2009, 03:21 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
I still think this series would benefit most by closing the gaps with their video game coming out. They aren't answering questions that are dire to the entire series, but instead of letting Saw V answer irrelevant questions or tie in the story more, I think it's best to progress the current story and save those miniscule answers for the video game. Just for the die hards, I suppose.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I will never understand the point of movies like this, People paying money to see people get killed? If you want to see it there are more than a few websites that specialize in people getting killed. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
I don't know why I (or others) enjoy it, but I simply enjoy it watching it when it's fake on screen... if I stumble upon something in real life, there is still a vast difference, and you can see that difference. I yack and turn the other way when it's real.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Because teenagers think that it is cool. Others too I'm sure, but I would think they make most of their money off of kids.Last edited by WeLLWeLL; 07-25-2009, 06:49 PM.Comment

Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
Some great news (bad to some people depending on how you look at it):
Fans should expect some resolution in Saw VI
"[Director] Kevin Greutert is an editor but, man, he knows horror movies," said Melton. "He knows all of the references we're making but he's very aware of controlling everything, what he'll need in the editing session. But part four was too confusing, part five wasn't confusing enough and this one hits the mark right in the middle. We have a really good 'A' story which makes all of the Tobin Bell flashbacks feel organic and not forced. There's good pacing and finally there's a resolution. Finally. Six could be done and that's it, there could be no more. In terms of the John Kramer storyline, we put a nice bow on it. It's fulfilling for people, I think."Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Saw VII has been greenlit
And the way I view horror films is basically that people want to escape and view things they would never normally view in reality and what makes them able to view these things is the fact that it isn't real. No matter how realistic it looks and how gut-wrenching the screams and how loud the chainsaw is, you know its not real. Horror films tap into that one area in the brain and our imaginations where we're all a little bit twisted and psychotic and the only way we can exercise that and get it out of our systems to throw that **** up on a silver screen and have fun. I think its the same reason we can play video games that have us blowing heads off random characters.
