"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
Sexual Healing (2011) Focuses on Marvin Gaye's last years of exile in Belgium and then leading to his death. This movie might not get off the ground but a couple actors are attached to it if it does get the financing. Jesse L. Martin will play Marvin and James Gandolfini will be playing Freddy Coeseurt (sp) the local Ostende boxing promoter who rescues Marvin from his stupor in England.
The other movie which has more solid backing is
Marvin: The Life Story of Marvin Gaye which is going to be helmed by F. Gary Gray and will have the benefit of Marvin's full Motown catalogue so it'll be about his whole life. Dionne Warwick is supposedly going to handle the musical selection and such.
