yeah I don't have anything. Maybe its a higher power granting a wish? Maybe that is life after they go back in time and blow up the island, but somehow the light remained alive, and since it was underwater, smoke monster got killed.

Desmond can withstand the electromagnetism, so I'm guessing that is the light, which is the heart of the island. He might be the only one who can actually enter the light.

But how does that stop Smokie.

Crazy theory: maybe he can go into the light and turn into another smoke monster without dieing.

Well Jacob said only the replacement could find the light, so idk. I think it has more to do with him entering it as it's known that the light gives off electromagnetic energy.

Yeah I don't know how MIB actually plans to destroy the island. Destroying may be removing the light, putting out the light, or actually destroying the physical island.

I think this gets at MIB might not really be evil, but he wants to keep others from getting brought to the island like he was.

I'm guessing destroying the light kills Smokey but also sinks the Island.

But I don't want to see the Island sink and them live in the alt with their memories.

well you never know sometimes people gripe about spoilers. Anyway JAck asks how long he has to do the job and jacob responds as long as it takes or something like that. Does JAck get a replacement and if so could Desmond be his?

Of course Jack would get a replacement if he knew he needed one. Question is will he need one? Will MIB/smokey still be on the island? Will Jack bring people to the island?

I don't think Jack's replacement would be Desmond. I think it's possible that Desmond gets rid of the smoke monster, but getting rid of the smoke monster does not mean that the Island no longer has to be protected.

I think Desmond will probably die (and Sawyer will probably die while helping him, for his "redemption"), and Jack will be left on the Island protecting it.

Sure he will probably bring tons of people in like Jacob did, but I doubt we see that unless they give us a scene from the future or something at the end.

Really enjoyed tonight's episode.

Some random questions/thoughts:

- Desmond said they are going to a concert near the end of the episode. I assume it's David's concert but I wouldn't be shocked if it turned out to be Driveshaft.

- I imagine we will find out who Jack's ex-wife is in the sideways timeline in the series finale. The only logical person is Juliet

- In tonight's episode, MiB said if Ben helped him, Ben could have the Island but in the final scene MiB said he was going to destroy the Island. Huh?

- It seems like Jacob's main goal has switched from making sure the MiB doesn't leave the Island (remember the cork) to making sure MiB doesn't get to the light.

- I've already accepted the fact that these questions won't be answered in the finale:

~ What is the back story of Mother?
~ How does Mother know the light is special?
~ Why did Jacob leave the Island unguarded to touch the candidates off of the Island when he said his goal was to make sure the MiB didn't get off the Island
~ The first season played up the fact Walt was "special". How does he factor into all of this?
~ Who was doing the Dharma food drops from the sky?
~ From the pilot and when Jack returned to the Island, why did he wake up both times by himself and not with the other passengers?

Eloise was doing the Dharma Food Drops. That was confirmed in one of the mystery of the universes.

And as for your last question - I think that was just an art type thing.

And I'm assuming Walt was "special" in the sense that Jacob told the others to kidnap him and groom him to be the protector of the light. That is just my assumption, though. Since he was young and alone and came from a broken home like Jacob.
