Shark Week
I have to say, I love this week. This is the first year I've been able to watch it in HD. I have DiscoveryHD and shark week in HD is amazing.

Re: Shark Week
Hate to dig up such an old thread, especially considering it didnt get any responses last time but is anyone watching it so far this year? Some of the programs have been outstanding so far. Right now they are doing a show on shark attacks as they jump out of the water in attempts to grab seals, its amazing to watch imo. -
Re: Shark Week
In the past 10 hours or so, I've read about 10 Facebook status updates having to do with shark week.
Didn't realize how many people were into it.Comment

On topic, this week is the only week I don't watch Discovery. Sharks bore me. And they normally replay the same episodes of MythBusters and Dirty Jobs that they made a few years ago and I've seen millions of times.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Shark Week
I love it now but I used to love it A LOT more back in the day. I've been watching Shark Week since I was like 3 years old and that was 20 years ago. It seems now that a lot of the programming they show is pretty much the same thing rehashed over a week. Theres only so many times they can show variations on Air Jaws and the Shark Attack Files.
I wish they would dig into the vault or archives and air some vintage Shark Week programming with Mike DeGruy or something on prehistoric Sharks. As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment

Re: Shark Week
With the Canadian Discovery channel we only get one hour a night for each day of the week. A few years back they used to have 3 hours a night for 7 days straight.
All the shows thay have now for the week are all repeats from shows that they have thru the year with maybe one hour of new programming thrown in.Comment

Re: Shark Week
I recently picked up the Shark Week Jaws Of Steel Collection on blu-ray. I really liked Blood in The Water episode about the 1916 shark attacks in a NJ creek. Always enjoy watching shark week when they are on."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: Shark Week
Example my ex-gf knows I love sharks and Shark week is something I live for. We broke up 3 months ago and she found out I'm with another girl now, I go on Facebook and see on my newsfeed her talking about Shark Week, and the only time she ever talked about sharks was when it involved me.Comment

Re: Shark Week
I'd rather see a week about dolphins or whales. They communicate, have social hierarchy, are intelligent and need more attention as they are fished out in the Pacific to the point of their endangerment.
Sharks are too primitive. I don't need a week of watching sharks eat stuff in slow motion. They don't really interact with each other. They aren't that mysterious or intelligent. They have huge teeth and bite hard. Nothing different than an alligator, really, just in salt water.
The first show I watched on Shark Week this year was the episode on Monday, where some South African or Australian guy kayaks out to sharks by the beach and gets them to bite his paddle. He called it research. It took 20 minutes to show that.
The next thing he did was get into some custom-built submarine and went in murky water to look at sharks. One shark swam close to him. He yelled. Meanwhile, there was a cameraman following him the whole time, so he actually had no reason to be in this ridiculous contraption. That took 20 minutes.
Finally, he got on a custom-built raft and floated out behind his boat with a fake seal by him. A shark jumped up and ate the seal. He took a picture of it, and they showed the replay at least 15 times. That took 20 minutes.
So in one hour, I watched this bald guy with a weird accent trick me into watching him kayak, submarine, and raft float around sharks under the guise of research and science. That's when I stopped watching Shark Week.Comment
