I am looking to buy a new AV receiver from Pioneer

I really want to get the elite model SC-05 which is now discontinued since the new models are coming out

They are selling it for $795

the problem is that all stores seem to be sold out and only have floor models

the floor models are going for $795

I have an elite Kuro tv therefore I want to keep it in the family

Does anyone know if this is a good buy or should i get the vsx-03txh for $500

that one would be in a box new....But is not as good

is the 300 buck diff worth it to get the sc-05

Amazon has it new and in stock, BUT they want $1,100

If you use pricegrabber you'll find a couple of other online stores that are selling it new for close to $800 (as low as 768)

I've never used either of them.

You say you want a Pioneer, I highly recommend an Onkyo.

The issue with buying it online is that you do not get the 2 year pioneer warranty

        I want and need that

THat would be my second choice but the elite is better then onkyo

Onkyo runs real hot and also they do not upconvert anolog or picture to 1080p like the elite does..

Onkyo is hot but I really want the Pioneer

They give a 2 year warranty on a used AVR, but not on a brand new AVR just b/c it was bought online? Interesting.

Thought it would have come down to having proof of purchase and serial number documentation.

yea, for some reason Pioneer will not honor any elite warranty if purchased online.

Also it has to be purchased from one of their pioneer retailers. If you buy it from some store that is not a pioneer certified store then the warranty is not accepted

That is why I need to buy it from one of their certified retailers to get that 2 year warranty

Even if I buy it from the floor model section it will still give me my warranty

Learn something new every day. I'll just stick with Onkyo.
