Surprised to learn that he hasn't directed a picture since 1991 at age 41.
His big blockbuster was "Home Alone" but his resume is impressive:
Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Uncle Buck, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Plane, Trains, And Automobiles.

            Loved his movies.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I just saw the news on imdb.com

Wow this is sad. His movies had a great teen movement during the 80s and I loved watching his movies growing up.

                        Wow

The man was a great director in the '80s. He did write some movies in the late 90s/early 200s though mostly crap. (the best of the lot being Maid In Manhattan)

                        R.I.P.

Thanks for all those great 80s movies.

RIP. My fave was 16 Candles. I was so much like Farmer Ted it was scary.

My least was B'fast Club. I guess I was an oddity as I actually liked my parents. I couldn't get the whole "teen angst" thing.

Bummer. Just a couple nights ago, I watched Weird Science for the first time since the 80s. Love the scene where Anthony Michael Hall pulls the gun on the bikers.
