    Freaks And Geeks

It's hard to believe that next month (September 25th, to be exact) will mark the ten year anniversary of this awesome show's debut. It is also hard to believe that a show this awesome only lasted for one season before being canceled. It may have only been a mere 18 episodes, but this show was easily the best "dramedy" going at the time. I just finished watching the entire series again like I do every couple of years and it gets better each time.

This show was a launching pad for a lot of great talents, including Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jason Segel and many more. If you are into the Apatow films The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pineapple Express and so on, then this show is a must see for you if you haven't checked it out yet.

For all the folks who are already fans of this show, let me hear you!

Loved me some Freaks and Geeks.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Such a great show. I need to go out and buy the collectors edition of it someday because I could watch the season over and over again. Have any of you guys checked out Undeclared? I have fallen in love with that show as well. It has most of the same actors and a good amount of cameos to boot.

It's on G4 like 3 times a day. I never watched it though. I only reconized the guy from How I Met Your Mother being on it. Didn't know all those others were too.

Great show. I don't remember it's initial run but I heard a lot of good things about the DVD set and bought it - not only is the show excellent but the boxed set is one of the best television boxed sets I own. Great commentary tracks.

Some of the scenes are classic, including Jason Segal's character banging away to Rush's "Spirit of Radio" on the drums while listening to it on cassette, and the "freak" group singing along to Cheap Trick's "Gonna Raise Hell" in the car.

This series made REALLY good use of the music they licensed...so much so that it made me a critic of how other films use licensed music (Watchmen, I'm looking at you!).

You guys need to check out Undeclared if you liked Freaks and Geeks. It's another creation of Apatow's that is greatness.

Never watched it when it was on, but my wife and I have been watching it via Netflix. A great show that was cancelled way too early.

I just picked up the Undeclared box set and plan on watching through the entire series in the next couple of days.

Ever since Charlie Hunnam (Jax from SoA) became really famous it made me want to see these even more.

Another example of a great show getting cancelled before its time.

I swear 5 people farting in a plain white room would draw more viewers than a well written 1 hour weekly show.

I love both shows and have seen both seasons in their entirety multiple times. Glad to see that people finally "caught on" and most of the staff and cast are making their bank on the big screen now.

I like Freaks and Geeks better I think, but both shows are classics.

Loved it during it's original run and having seen a few episodes recently on IFC, have to say it holds up well...

Not all that surprising the majority of the cast, writers, producers went on to even larger scale success...

Reminds me of "My So Called Life" in the quality / early cancellation sweepstakes...
