    Re: Freaks And Geeks

I just ran through the entirety of Undeclared over the past few days and I enjoyed it more the second time around.

    Such a great show!

Now THAT was my show. Charlie Hunnam was great.

Never caught Freaks and Geeks. I remember when it orignally came out though. Might need to go dig in the archives and watch it.

You have to check out Freaks & Geeks, man. There is a fair deal of humor to it, but also has more drama elements and that makes me prefer it over Undeclared, although both are great for what they are.

More people should have given this show a chance back when it debuted. It's a great and funny show.

Never watched it. I need to check it out one day.

Shows being cancelled so soon is one of the reasons I never get into news shows. I'm afraid I'll invest the time just to see it get cancelled.

            I just wait for Netflix.

For anyone that has IFC, they've aired this show in the past late nights. I watched it a bit when it first came out, but I caught up on most of the season last year thanks to IFC

                Re: Freaks And Geeks

I had seen most of the episodes here and there on IFC, but I just finished it front to back for the first time on Netflix. It's a pretty solid show - the whole "Linda Cardellini looking troubled" thing got kind of old. It seemed like every other lead-in to a commercial break was that.

I really liked the music throughout the series. One thing did bother me in that aspect. When Daniel goes to the punk club, the band playing is actually Diesel Boy (don't remember what they were called for story purposes) and they're playing their actual songs from the late 90's. A bit odd for a show set in 1980.

It is a shame that is got axed after one season because I think there could have been one more great season to this show. After that? Not so sure it could have kept its steam.

If I had to pick a favorite character, it would be the dad, Harold Weir.

                  Re: Freaks And Geeks

I've watched the first 7 episodes on Netflix. (Last one, Carded and Discarded)

A good look at high/junior high school angst, mixing in comedy and drama very well. The guidance counselor (Mr Russo) and father (Harold Weir-played by SCTV's Joe Flaherty) are hilariously available for some seriously funny stuff, but the younger "Geeks" and older "Freaks" deliver on every level. Seems like Seth Rogen doesn't have much to do, but you look forward to his sarcastic comments and apathetic personality.

Based on the first 7 eps Highly recommended.

Did the show wrap up pretty well?

Lindsay was the center of the "freaks" if not the whole show, so it was natural to pivot off of her in some way.

For the little time and money that had to work with once they found out they were going to get canceled? Yes.

I finished the series last night. The last 11 episodes were better than the first 7. The fact that I started the 18 episode series Friday afternoon and finished it Monday night should tell you what I think about it. Remember these episodes are about 44 minutes each.

I might look into Undeclared, but I'm watching The West Wing right now.

                        Re: Freaks And Geeks

Huge bump after several months, but I just finished up this show.

It was really awesome. I love the era in which it took place and the different conflcits and struggles kids then had opposed to now.

It's crazy to think once upon a time, someone's parents disapproved of The Who

I've been suggesting this show to a few people, but haven't got any takers yet.

I hate that there wasn't at least a second season. It had enough steam to make things interesting.

I think I would choose the counselor with the dad in close second.

I laughed at him a lot. I did a little IMDB searching and discovered that he is indeed the crazy guy on the golf course in Happy Gilmore.

I just enjoyed looking at the characters then and where they are now and special guest appearances by people like Ben Stiller.

Love Joe Flaherty as Harold Weir, but he'd be my #2. Lindsay is my #1 all the way.
