Dexter standing outside in plain view when the family came out wasn't the same because the family might have seen him there and just assumed he was Kyle who just visited them, whereas the police just saw him there as Dexter, doing his job.

I dont think he will have any explaining to do. Dexter could just deny it and claim he has no idea what the family is talking about. Its not like they have pictures of them together.

I also really hope we don't have to see "single dad" dexter. Maybe with Harrison, but please ship off Rita's two kids. His closing monologue gave off the impression that he thinks it is best to distance himself from people.

Bingo. Thats the biggest problem. He has a brutally murdered wife and no alibi. I think its safe to assume that at least the two oldest kids will be shipped off to their grandparents.

aholbert - while technically you're right I don't think Dexter, or any serial killer for that matter, wants that sort of questioning. And it's not his word against another person's, it's his word against 3 people's word who have nothing to gain by bringing up the issue. And then there is the fact of the Kyle Butler being murdered when that was the name he was using to the family. The whole thing can open up a huge can of worms that may put Dexter in the middle of an investigation relating his wife's death to that of Trinity and his family. Him just denying the family is telling the truth wouldn't cut it considering all of the other questions it would raise.

I remember reading somewhere a while back that the show has a contract for 5 seasons. Unless this has changed, it looks like you are probably right.

i wouldn't read much into that contract business warchant...this show will go on as long as it's a hit show and the key players involved will stay in the show. the situation you bring up about the contract reminds me of the shield. that show was scheduled to go 4 years I think originally and ended up going nearly double that with 7 seasons.

              Wow, just wow.

No Julie Benz anymore. I wish they didn't have to kill her off. She was an amazing part of the show, and eye candy too.

But boy that was an amazing episode. Just amazing. I literally spent a full 2-3 minutes staring at the screen after it was over. It was that amazing.

The ending was such a shock, I felt sorta like someone just kicked me in the gut at the end. And when they flashed back to Dexter's Dad carrying Dexter as a baby out of the carnage, and then Dexter doing the same with his son, wow

No exaggeration, one of the most shocking TV moments ever.

I'm gonna miss John Lithgow. The next villain is going to have a LOT to live up too to be as good as Lithgow was in this series.

30 Rock From the Sun will never be the same. He's like Tony Soprano now, he will always be Trinity. Thats how good he was. Even watching an interview of him (where he is nice as hell and a respectful man as he's always been).. I just can't help to say.. wow he's creepy.

I've always found him creepy since Cliffhanger.

All three members of the family pointing a finger at Dexter would be too much to ignore. Of course some or all of them would be indebted to Dexter, particularly if he assured them that Arthur is gone for good. Good luck to the Feds in their search for Trinity.

I liked it. She presented the thoughts that are obviously in everyone's mind and again confirmed that they don't know what they'll choose to do just yet.

I think that approach works for a show like this. I imagine that the writers also enjoy having to find a way to write out of a potential wall. They set themselves up and don't even know what they'll do to get out of it. Good stuff.

I find the writing in this show to mirror Dexter's behavior. There was a lot of chaos this season and Dexter was extremely chaotic in his behavior. He set himself up for a lot of issues because he didn't think things through. In previous seasons, everything tied up nicely and Dexter was always the most organized killer you knew.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I think one of the bigger questions that needs to be answered next season is, who is gonna watch Harrison? I doubt they'll have Dexter watching him. It is a baby, it needs to be watched 24/7...

That's what nannies are for ryanm. I can definitely see Dexter keeping harrison and having someone watch him when he is not there.

As for Trinity's family not identifying Dexter, you know that is a great point, maybe they would NOT identify him at all to the police because they will think Dexter works for the police and is a vigilante killer and they have him to thank. So that may be how Dexter gets out of that whole predicament.
