Re: Dexter (Season 4)
I was going to pull up this thread but got busy tonight. Since it's been a month since I saw the premier, I wanted to watch it tonight for two reasons...1. to see it in HD lol and 2. to see what's to come for the season and WOW!!!, this season is gonna be amazing. The teasers alone will get my hyped and wanting more Dexter each week.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
The season teaser was intense and the great thing is that most of what was shown is only in maybe the first 6 episodes. It's going to be an amazing second half of the show.
I just wonder how much longer can Dexter go before someone important to the series figures it all out. And by important I mean the people that won't be killed off - Debra or Rita.
I think the addition of the baby to the series opens up a whole new element to the show. It's the single greatest addition to the series and it rejuvenated the entire show. Without the baby, this season would be S1 all over again. The baby makes Dexter more vulnerable and it allows the writers to avoid using the human emotions writing tool they've been toeing for a while now.
They know they can't make Dexter "human" because if he's human there's no show. The baby helps them avoid that for at least a season. I'm assuming that S5 will definitely involve an important person knowing his secret. I'm not sure where else they could go with this show before it becomes monotonous - but they are doing a great job.
Also, the Trinity Killer is one creepy dude. If Doakes thought Dexter was a creep job, who knows what words would have come out his mouth if he met the Trinity Killer and watched him sit in the tub naked with a woman he's killing. That's just disturbing."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
My mother-in-law works for a cable company and showtime sent her the first two episodes of the season, we went ahead and watched them. Glad Dexter is back on!Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
They really need to start toning down the side story relationship crap with other characters and spend more time on the main story. The main story looks like it'll be great but I want more time on it and less on Deb and others' relationship drama. I am not watching a soap opera here.
Same was true in S02 (watched it recently) and I haven't watched S03 again so it isn't fresh in my mind but so far the side story junk in S04 is worse than S02.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
I don't know if I'd say it's worse than the previous season's side-stories, but there is definitely a lot more of it, and I agree - they really need to go back to focusing on Dexter, and this season the Trinity Killer/Lundy's story. Deb's relationship with Anton can be cut down and Angel/Maria's story needs to be cut down (I hate Maria and wish her Book One fate had happened in the show).
Quinn and the reporter is fine, because it's only been a few minutes in the episode and actually can change how the story is going depending on what the reporter prints and what Quinn tells her.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 4)
I swear, John Lithgow's character is such a badass. I won't spoil it because some of you haven't watched it yet, but boy man, every scene he's in he just STEALS. he has that kind of appeal. Your stomach just turns every time you see his character and whats gonna happen next.Comment
