Is anyone else happy about the potential of Deb being off the show?

I'm suprised people haven't been guessing who shot 'em.

Definitely don't think Deb will be gone. Lundy is, though, and that is good. Their romance was annoying and creepy to watch. I expected Trinity to bludgeon him, though.

As for who shot them, it was either Anton or it actually was just a mugging like it looked like. No other possibilities even make sense.

WOW!!! The end of the episode......pretty much sums up the whole season.

I had this funny feeling something would happen at the end, but I didn't expect them to both be shot. I thought Trinity would kidnap Lundy after Deb left, but it leaves all posibilities to who shot them.

I thought that episode was MUCH better than last week but it still annoyed me a bit with the whole office romance crap. I liked that they had Dex going for a new target and the end was awesome and I am all for limited rita and quinn screen time as well. All in all a solid episode even with the relationship junk that Dex had to deal with and it has me thinking maybe this season will be at the level I expect the show to be at.

That episode's end has me excited for next week.

i am thinking Anton is who is behind the shooting as I think it being the trinity killer doesn't fit and this would give anton a little more purpose. I don't want to see lundy die but if it means putting an end to wasted deb relationship screen time filler then i am down.

Has to be Anton, Trinity doesn't make much sense and randomly shooting people from a distance seems a bit extreme for a mugging.

Yeah man. Rita and the new family are really annoying. It already is but the rest of the season should be great.

Don't think it was Anton... my hunch is that Trinity had something to do with it but that he wasn't the shooter (since that's not exactly his MO and getting tangled up in a messy shooting case isn't in his best interest). I think Deb will live though, no way she dies there in that way... too important to the dynamic of the show and Dexter's story. I like Lundy, so hopefully he makes it too, but those extra 2 shots he got probably made sure he was a goner.

And yeah... wow, great episode.

Did you guys know that in the books that Dexter notices that Rita's kids are going to become serial killers and starts helping them along the same way Harry did him? I thought that was interesting. Not sure if they'll ever bring that into the show or not though as it could prove pretty controversial and hugely distracting overall.

Everyone but me thinks that, apparently. The biggest thing is that it gives the audience palpable relief when they're not an integral part of the story or otherwise in Dexter's way. The last episode felt like freedom not only to Dex but to the audience... it's a good way of getting further inside the character's head without always going back to Dexter talking to himself. Plus it adds further tension in Dexter's exploits since he's now becoming invested in something other than himself (last episode showed that very well) and has an even greater chance of having everything crash down around him.

I don't understand why people would just want to see Dexter the entire time. Sure he's bad *** and all but it would get really repetitive.

I'm with Stumble. Rita and the kids may not be the most interesting characters or best actors, but they add a human element to Dexter that he would otherwise never have. That scene where he tells the lady cop that he would never kill his family and would risk getting caught over losing them was the most emotional scene of the entire series. It also adds to the stress and tension of each kill and situation Dexter will have for the rest of the show. He now legitimately has something to lose.

And poor Deb. What a tragic character.
