I guess I need to stop eating Cheeto's then. Aren't they made out of cheetah?

Which number are we going to use? 6.13 seconds?

If so, the conversion should be about:

      (100m / 6.13s) * (3600s / 1 hr) * (1mi / 1600m) = 36.7 mi/hr

      Not bad.

That's actually really bad for a cheetah if those numbers are correct.

You have to remember that the cheetah had to accelerate first, so that brings the average down a little bit.

Then again, I could have miscalculated. I did it on paper, meh. I'll try it again.

And in fact, it's really about 1609 meters in a mile (with some decimal places), but I was just being general. Maybe someone else knows the conversions better, because you're right in that I must be doing something totally wrong, since that doesn't sound right at all (maybe twice that, eh?).

Yeah but cheetahs are short burst high speed runners aren't they? They should accelerate super fast.

Cheetah's can go up to 75 mph so it might be double what you had.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I'm pretty sure if they timed this cheetah it would be faster:

                    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iarsmqA3dck&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iarsmqA3dck&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

What's crazy is that it can follow those zig zags the gazelle was making while keeping the same speed.

Well, I'm definitely calculating it right, looking at this online conversion site. I just don't know why we're not getting proper numbers. Again, maybe we didn't get the cheetah's top speed and we have to consider that it was accelerating the entire way through. I mean it probably covers 10 to 20 of the meters just getting into its sprint, you know?

Maybe if we got it between 100 meters to 200 meters, we would get a much quicker time, which would also be a much quicker speed. Either way, that's damn fast!

I read that this cheetah didn't get to the top speed for a cheetah and it's pretty old so you're probably right.
