These would be places I'd start:

I take it you are a LCD fan. I'd highly suggest a plasma if it's mainly being used for tv and movies.

Plasma TVs and Video Games are not a good combination

Not true of the good plasmas that are currently on the market. But to each, his own.

          Wrong.

I play Halo 3 and NCAA Football for several hours at a time on my plasma. No problems. Never had a problem with any content I've watched.

I thought these rumors had been put to bed a few years ago, when they ceased to be true.

Does it also need to be mentioned that plasmas don't need to be refilled? Is that rumor still going around, too?

            It does.

My brother in the last 2 weeks wanted to buy a TV, and he asked if you had to refill the plasma TVs after a while

I think the only people who think that either A. Do not currently own a HDTV, or B. Love LCDs for some reason.

I have the Samsung LN40A740 and it is a top notch set. When I bought it last year it was by far the best 40" HDTV on the market. It isn't anymore but it's still pretty damn close. If you were to purchase a new TV today though, I would suggest going LED if it were in your price range. And stick with Samsung, they are easily the best at what they do.
