Of course it is.


Thought the first episode was great. Should be a great mini series.

Anyone else notice that Eugene Sledge is the little boy from Jurassic Park. Keep forgetting that movie was 17 years ago.

Thumbs up from me. I won't give much away, but I thought they did an amazing job portraying how mentally taxing the Pacific theater was.

Yup, freakin' sweet. Love how they portrayed the one guy realizing the Jap soldiers are men just like them and finding the doll/picture (although it's cliche). Some of the battle scenes in the future episodes they showed at the end of the credits just look insane. I read in the paper that the whole thing cost over $200 million to make, making it the most expensive television event ever.

Thumbs up from me. I won't give much away, but I thought they did an amazing job portraying how mentally taxing the Pacific theater was.

The style of fighting was 180 degrees from the European theater.

1. It was a lot of island hopping, jungle warfare as opposed to the European countryside. Guerilla tactics were used much more by the Japanese as has been shown in numerous other movies. Much harder to fight in that regard.

2. There was fanaticism by the Nazis to be sure...but you literally had an entire army that believed it was better to die than to be captured or surrender. Kamikaze pilots, suicide bombers, etc. Again, a completely different type of enemy and a different type of warfare.
