A Nightmare on Elm Street remake/reboot/etc.

Well I didn't see a thread for this so if there is one, forgive me. It drops on April 30, 2010.

The trailer hit online last night, just checked it out...gotta be honest, doesn't look all that bad. Freddy's look and voice has def. changed but it looks creepy and visceral to me. I have faith that Jackie Earle Haley can pull Freddy off. If anyone can come close to Englund, I think it's JEH.

I haven't been too fond of the rash of remakes lately but after FT13th....this was inevitable. I'm CAUTIOUSLY optimistic about this.

    Trailer...

    It doesn't look bad.

The director, Samuel Bayer, is a very well-known and popular music video director. This will be his first feature film but good for him he has the backing of Michael Bay.

The intro of how this happened to Kruger, rather than relying on flashbacks or dialogue, is a nice touch.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I paused at 1:55 when they show him...didn't really like it, I prefer the Robert Englund's Krueger. This movie will probably be crippier than the original one becuase 80's movies seem a bit funny now, but I still think the original movie (the first one) is one of the best horror movies ever made.

Horror is not my thing but I always gravitated towards the Elm Street movies. Mainly I think because as they kept going with it they became a bit more irreverent. Anyways this looks to capture the tone and feel of the Original movie quite well. Not sure I like the lizard/burnt look but it's only one look at him.

I am not a big fan of horror movies, but I think this looks rather promising. The Nightmare on Elm Street scared the hell out of me when I was younger. This actually looks kind of cool...hopefully it isn't as corny and lame as other horror movies out, or the Freddy vs. Jason series.

LOL he looks stupid, although he looked more like a burn victim than the old Kruger did and his voice is horrible. I might check it out though...lol

They better not butcher this. Nightmare on Elm Street I is my favorite horror movie of all-time.

Well, the movie itself looks cool.............lets see how his voice fully sounds. Englund did such a great job. Whats up with his face, it looks like an ashtray full of ashes were dumped on his face.

Ok, I have to say the trailer looks great. Freddy sounds awful though.

This is one series I don't care how they butcher as Craven butchered it already.

Part 1 is in my top 10 horror films of all time, 2-7,8 however many turds there were all sucked.
