Ehhh, it was alright, at best. The direction they are trying to take with this new Freddy is not that good, personally I liked Robert Englund way better. The movie is boring, humorless and pointless. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 4.

Seems like a lot of negatives reviews so far.

I thought Freddy was good and everyone else was horrible.

I agree with the above post, these actors they hire to be teenagers or
high schoolers are way too old. I'd bet atleast one of them was 25.

Yeah man, that blonde haired girl was pretty but no way does she look like high school. She looks like an upper classmen in college or something. And the characters were all so boring it's like they were interchangeable really. The only thing i remember is the one girl did art. That's about it, LOL.

Just a terribly average and boring movie, save your cash. I do feel bad for Jackie, the guy who played Freddy, he did the best job he could but this series is doomed to fail with the poor writing, the terrible casting and the way-too-slow pace.

I still say the first Freddy was better, he had more energy and his one liners were far more effective, "welcome to prime time b#@ch!" The one liners by this new Freddy in this current movie fell way short, at least in my opinion.

Just curious Odogg...what was the uncomfortable scene you were referring to? I won't be seeing this, but I'm interested in that.

I disagree, and so do American movie goers. 32M on opening weekend is not to shabby for a film like this. This just proves that there is still a market for Freddy and Jason.

No matter how "bad" these movies are, people will go see them.

I agree with you there. How many of these rebooted horror franchises have been borderline awful over the last five or so years, and yet a new one comes out, and 3+ million viewers show up with money in hand. This will easily make back the money it took to make it, and in 2011 when the inevitable Freddy 2 comes out, the same will happen.

The opening weekend numbers mean nothing though. The country is just willing to give an old favorite a try is all that means. I predict you will see a huge drop off for the second weekend numbers as word of mouth gets around. It's usually the second weekend that really is a better predictor of success. Maybe I'm wrong but honestly I was in a filled theater and I think everyone there shared my sentiment so I don't think I am.

That's the point right there. Again, tons of terrible horror movie remakes, yet a new one comes out, and the theater is filled (including you being there with your date).

It will gross enough to make money, therefor it will warrant a second. It's all about the benjamins.

I'm not sure one good weekend will make enough money though was my point. And that's probably all it will get.

We were going to watch this Friday for the 5:40 show, beat the crowd for the 7 and 9 showings, but I had to work late and didn't get out in time. After reading reviews about this, I'm going to skip it.
