Had Me Then Lost Me ~~ Movies Starting Strong / Ending Poorly

My wife was watching "Phenomenon" on an Encore channel, which I have seen and it continues to strike me as a movie that "had me" in the beginning and then scratching my head going, "how in the hell did we get here?" I've got Vinnie Barbarino with a cool extra-sensory power that is making the intelligence dept. of the US gov't nervous and next I'm learning how I share energy with trees, spinning sun glasses and bites of apples?? What?

So I figured some of you would have some other compelling arguments for this category.... but I have one more:

"Dreamcatcher" --- very cool premise, mysterious, guy comarradere looking flick and then I'm hinging storyline on a weirdo isolated scrawny dude with a speech impediment who knows something about a creature with a water fetish!?! Huh??

I think Full Metal Jacket is the best examples of this. Not that the second half is really that bad, but there is a noticeable departure in quality once Kubrick leaves training camp and enters into real combat.

      The Forgotten

Great premise, but quickly falls apart after one point in the movie that kills it completely.

I agree with Full Metal Jacket... When I was younger my Uncle used to watch it all the time but, he would always stop it after the Boot Camp scene and would tell my brother and I that the movie sucked from then on.

I think I was like 20 before I finally got to finish the entire movie...

Oh and as for things that start strong and end poorly, can I throw in NCAA Football?? Because basically it's the same thing well, other than the Title Game.

First thing I thought of was Click. That went on one scene too long but a lot of movies do,that's just the standout for me.

              I was like...wow what a great movie/ending that took a lot of...oh......c'mon! Bulllllllllllllllllll.

90% of Stephen King movie's (like Dreamcatcher). I still watch them though because for the most part I love a majority of the movie up until the endings.

I guess in a way, The Wrestler could go up on here for me. I understand the ending was supposed to be one of those "leave it to your imagination" endings or whatever but I still thought it sucked. I still think the movie is a classic though and it's one of my favourites despite the ending.

I thought we were talking about movies that digressed around the turn of the climax.

If we're talking about bad endings, I have an hundreds list to sort out for you guys.

"Burn After Reading" left me feeling empty with the abrupt ending. I liked the style of the movie and the whole thing as I normally do with Cohen Bros projects, but then bam, it was over and didn't feel like any kind of resolution had taken place. Kinda ruined it for me and I'd ahve a hard time recommending it for that reason.

Training Day..laughable 30-45 minute finally imo.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

IDK. I just figured because of the part in the title that says "Ending Poorly" I assumed that included endings as well. If not then yeah, The Wrestler doesn't belong here.
