Program compatibility is almost exactly the same as Vista is now. I haven't run into any programs that didn't run on it.

I don't know. Pro Tools, NBA 2k10, Final Draft.....once they are confirmed with no problems then I will.

2k9 runs just fine on the W7 release candidate so you should have no worries about 2k10

Oh and yes I will be upgrading to it from day one, been running the betas and release candidate for as long as they've been out.

Got a cheap college deal for upgrading, so I'm only spending $29.99 to download the upgrade, so I can move up from Vista

Got a related Question. If I do upgrade, what is the best way to restore my programs and settings? Will it just install over the top of my old vista install? Or will I have to start from scratch?

whenever you install a new OS, it's best to do a clean install IMHO.

ive had the final release on my laptop for about three weeks now ... as a diehard xp guy who never thought he'd switch, i have to say i'm loving it right now. it's fast, it's beautiful, and it's very stable.

I believe Windows 7 should only be installed with a clean install. So you'd just have to back up all your important stuff onto an external hard drive or USB drive.

I'll be getting it when I upgrade some major parts of my PC, just makes sense to do it at the same time for me.

I agree. Upgrading is not very smart IMO.

I'm just gonna wait until its officially released on new laptops and pick up a new laptop. I don't want to mess with having install everything.
